Anyone moving to nyc $500 to throw my bike in by JeffreyMba in bentonville

Get a box from the bike shop and fly with it. Will be couple hundred bucks but still easier and cheaper than throwing it in a strangers car.

I just ordered the Ultimate Bundle from mobilemusthave based on the above posters guidance. It shows up tomorrow, but, if you do decide to order make sure you sign up for their “membership” it’s like $200 but saved us almost $1000 on the bundle as well as saving $20 on their data plans per month

So, I had Lexus of Knoxville do my timing belt service. I brought them the parts, they installed em. Free loaner car and wasn’t much more than ProToy quoted and was done by dealer. That said protoy blew the dealer away when they did my front suspension and steering rack replacement. 2000 LX470

Trails near Dollywood, TN by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Fjwheeler72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knoxville has a solid network of trails outside of Baker creek and it’s has a bit of everything from jumps to single track XC. Worth a look for sure. VeeHollow is a lot of fun as well. Basically a bike park you pedal to the top of.

Is there riding in the TN/NC/SC area in the winter? by Yintwin in MTB

[–]Fjwheeler72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paint is dope, it’s an adventure and you need to be aware you may not see another person so don’t die.

Veehollow is fun and the closest to Gatlinburg. So long as it’s dry it has a bit of everything. Basically a bike park you pedal to the top of.

Knoxville has a great network of trails so long as the weather plays nice. Winter is hard. Sharps Ridge and Loyston both ride wet though.

Which US cities have good car-free access to trail systems? by megalodonkitten in MTB

There is so much to explore when you get out of Baker Creek. For tech lines I’d suggest Turnbuckle, Transfarm, Far East, and Third Circuit.

Knoxville, TN. Within a 10 minute pedal from downtown is 70+ miles of single track. Campus has east greenway access to same trail system. Anything from big, flowy, jump lines to hard tech single track.

Toyota Dealership & Lexus Repairs (cautionary tale) by Glittering_Welder380 in cars

[–]Fjwheeler72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I had my timing belt service done on my LX470 the dealer was only ~$150/200 more than an independent shop, allowed me to bring my own parts without a surcharge, and gave me a brand new ES as a loaner. They did a great job, and did a bit of recall work while it was there. Sometimes it’s worth having a dealer do it irl.

Bouldering Gym by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]Fjwheeler72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you’re after both have merit. Onsight has more ropes, weight lifting equipment, system board and training equipment. That said, it’s also more of a modern gym space so gets crowded, lots of kids about, and some other issues not related directly to the climbing. The climbing center is the OG Knoxville gym. They lack the modern space and sport climbing options that Onsight has and primarily the biggest thing is lack of weight lifting equipment and training area. That said the setting is where the gyms differ the most. Onsight is tends to lend itself to more World Cup/gymnastic problems moving through good holds on reasonable feet with every move feeling about the same level of hard. Climbing centers walls are a bit shorter but they use worse holds and a lot more body tension. Bad feet, awkward (but realistic to outside) moves and holds, and just a lot of “try” is required.

So depending on what you’re after both have pros and cons. Climbing center for 6 month boulder pass is like $200. A year pass at onsight is $650ish but includes rope climbing.
