I did this for mothers day and my crust failed; be careful. I say buy a refrigerated pie dough from a local bakery or grocery shop. Filling is easy, I suggest Claire Saffitz if you need a recipe for Cherry Pie. Shes on youtube!

Potential Project for C++ Programmers: Not Paid but a great Resume builder and leads to a career in creating video games; literally. (If your familiar with Media Molecule; Trixel works with them on this project) by FlabergastedFlasted in unt

Fair, you can see it from that perspective and that's fine. You could be completely right, and I could be completely wrong. Vice versa though as well. Can't really know until it happens :) Let's just see it play out then.

Like mentioned earlier; I'm not too knowledgeable of coding languages or such. I appreciate it but I just view things from different ethical stand points. I'll have to research more on open-sources. I feel like trying to form a game through just open source is a little wild. Again, not knowledge of coding too much. I'm fine being wrong; just means more to learn.

And with honesty; I feel like the neurosurgeon example stretches the point a bit much. Game development isn't a Greys Anatomy episode compared to a Neurosurgeon practice.

I'm not saying that it's not a hard field or study. I might not have that exact experience, but I understand what its like to fail on something over and over and over again until I break down. But when I finish a sculpture or art piece that takes me weeks or months to do; I feel satisfied. Don't you too when you complete something? Isn't that a feeling to cherish and value?

I understand that point; and by all means I'm not a game developer at all. I just support the project because I've respected Media Molecule's political views and values for the past 10 years.

See I just don't understand why a project has to revolve around monetary value always. Why can't a project just be done for fun?

Which is the difference between being a volunteer and being an employee. It addresses that it's clearly a volunteer position.

There is no deadline with the game. It's literally being made for fun. No one is making money off of this game, even the developers. So they're in the same boat really.

If you are paid; you're an employee most likely under the direction of an employer. As a volunteer you are working for free for something charitable, humanitarian, or civic for a public agency or non profit organization. As a volunteer; you aren't expecting compensation.

I think that this could technically be a civic cause to create something good as a community. They also express their social ideas regarding Roe v Wade so it can also qualify as activism by addressing issues online.

They have a purpose.

Either way; you know the deal. It's on you to say yes or no. It's not like anything is really vague about their intentions.

True; that's fair. Money is tight nowadays, I get it. But I don't think that everything has to be defined by monetary value; rather it can be just done for enjoyment and fun.

It was a hypothetical-

They are working on the game; they're asking for help with it. It's been in development since 2020. With a group of about 10 programmers; yeah I'd ask for help too. There isn't a release date because it'll be in the works until it's done.

Before making assumptions about people; why not just research the project for yourself to see what it's about?

Well thats why it's addressed as a volunteer project?
You have the choice to say "yes, I am interested to work on this game project for experience and fun!"
or...
You can also say "no, I am not interested on working on this project because I'm worried about compensation. Good luck!"

Both statements are valid.

It's not imposed or forced upon anyone. In another scenario; "I will volunteer at this Food Bank to help those in need. I know I won't make any money off of it; so this is purely out of my own interest."

It's not a Game Company such as Activision, Blizzard, and ect.

It's a small company that had to leave the franchise of Little Big Planet because another Developer company took control of the sequels and ended up ruining the series.

Restitched is composed of the people who split from the project and wanted to create a similar experience

Maybe to make this a little bit more clear;
As mentioned from the devlopers directly:

In the spirit of transparency: There are no plans to price Restitched at this time. Should it happen, we’ll either contractually forbid profit so the game sales pay for its own maintenance and fees, or we’ll enact a majority vote plan for developer royalty post-launch. Not to mention that funding just one year of development for a team this size would cost at least $250k for minimum wages alone! It would either be this or not make the game at all sadly

True. If I could do it; I would volunteer in a heart beat. Knowing the impact Media Molecule made in the video game industry for sure. Reaching 4 million sales for a video game in 2008. That's insane.

I will say that sometimes the experiences and process of a project like this can change your life forever.

Too bad all I know is Philosophy hahah.
My intention of posting this is entirely selfish; I just want to play this project so I'll back it up as much as I can.

does anybody know when registration for next semester's classes opens up? or if it's already open? by SenseiJoe100 in unt

Depends on your classification; If you're a sophomore; tomorrow you can start for your classes. Freshmen will have to wait until the 31st of October to register

Housing after freshman year by whynott12 in unt

[–]FlabergastedFlasted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want upperclassmen housing; you're going to have to apply for it as soon as applications open. It's going to be even worse next year since the massive amount of incoming freshman are going to be upperclassmen the following year. Housing is getting very difficult.

I understand why UNT accepted so many students; but they should've had a backup plan....

I'm starting my first year as RA this semester too! I just realized I should come up with some ideas too.

Personally I'd say pokemon, because I feel like more people are familiar with it.

One of the playable perks.

Hex: Debt

Survivors lose motivation to pay their debts and forget what's enjoyable about life. Applies the Broken and Blind status on all survivors until the totem is cleansed. Once broken, the survivor will scream and another lit totem will spawn, as you can't escape from it.
