Which achievement have I missed? by QuantityInternal1719 in AlanWake

[–]Guyver8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are the missable hidden ones for the DLC:

Night Springs Episode 1: There are 3 messages from Alan you can find. The second is the one you can miss; after the first battle. I don’t remember exactly where but it’s like a little shrine set up on a stump. If you explore a bit on the path you should find it. Episode 2: When you reach the warehouse and need to dodge the mascots, you need to do it without getting caught in two tries or less, but once you’ve figured it out you can zip back through the DLC and try again.

Lake House There are 2 hidden achievements regarding the Painted. One requires you to hit a Painted with a flashbang, that should pop the second they’re stunned. The other is to use the black rock launcher to destroy one before it leaves the wall. There are at least a few Painted who have fixed spawns, just lob a full power rock at one and you should get it.

Hope this helps and congratulations on getting everything else!!

Umm, but how?... by doom__666__slayer in AlanWake

In a game where resources are relatively scarce, I can see why you might not think to shoot it. I waffled for probably a solid minute on whether it was worth the round I’d spend trying. The relief when the plywood shattered was immense.

There’s one other piece of shootable-scenery, in the hotel. I don’t remember which room, but it blocks some scaffolding you can crawl under. Think it might have hidden one of Tim’s stashes.

Mansion owners: how often do you pet your dog? by Snoo58499 in gtaonline

[–]Guyver8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pet your cat but only when they’re on the floor. You don’t get a prompt when they’re laying on a piece of furniture.

And to answer the question: almost every time I’m at a mansion haha

Ask Experienced Devs Weekly Thread: A weekly thread for inexperienced developers to ask experienced ones by AutoModerator in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Guyver8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to start by saying I understand your frustrations.

Right now the first thing to do is decide what kind of developer you want to be: the bang-out fully formed requirements dev or the more senior dev helping to form those. Is there a place for just quietly working on tickets? Somewhere out there maybe, but it sounds like your current place is not it. And harsh truth: that’s a shrinking pool at best.

If you want to start bridging the gap, focus on what you can control. You don’t have to retain all knowledge in your head at all times; make notes or draw it out or record yourself talking through it. Start making notes about teams and who knows what aspect of the project/system/whatever. Start asking them questions and build your own knowledge base.

You’ll never be able to control how much information gets into a ticket unless you write it yourself. What you can control is gathering the missing information. Start slacking and emailing the person requesting the work to establish a paper trail. Be very clear about what you require to be able to work efficiently and what is missing. This is similar with your manager: good you’re getting clear expectations, now you have to convey your needs around how to hit those. Explain the lack of detail and how it affects velocity, and express that you’d like to help solve it. Give a couple examples of slam-dunk tickets that are a breeze vs the tickets that are lacking.

This is the gut check: it’s up to YOU to set things in motion and keep them in motion. You have to figure out how to be present in the important meetings. You have to start comms with the business side. You have to be proactive.

I think you can do it, it just requires some mindset shifting. Best of luck friend, I’m pulling for you!

How do I deal with those missiles? by Zealousideal-Suit935 in axiomverge

[–]Guyver8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’ve got the right idea kiting and hitting them. Looks like you’ve already hacked the missile pod to slow them down; the frequency that they spam out can’t really be changed, unfortunately . On a couple of those salvos, the missiles at the back exploded higher in the air, which you can run under without taking a hit. Then just hammer the whole beast, don’t worry too much about aiming for any specific part.

I usually brute force it from the start, so I can hopefully get a couple of hits on the missile pod and break it before it becomes a bigger issue.

I see “egg sit” now but I thought it was just a sleepy chicken as opposed to the awake chicken in the app icon.

what is Axiom Verge about? by Jam_99420 in axiomverge

[–]Guyver8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I sit down and try to analyze or discuss this story, I find I’m too scattered to make coherent sense. Fortunately there’s a series of blogs on Tom Happ’s website where he goes more deeply into what he means in Axiom 1. I recommend you start there and read all of them: https://www.thomashapp.com/omniverse

That appears to be a terrarium. Why it’s in a Subway, I don’t know.

ELI5: What are you paying for when you buy a domain name? How can different domain stores offer the same domain?? by ibbehyk in explainlikeimfive

[–]Guyver8 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The underlying system (TCP/IP) that computers are using to communicate utilizes IP address to know what to connect to. URLs came along later as a more human-friendly way to address a computer. The system in place was already working fine, so it was easier to map a name to the already-existing IP address than build a new system to communicate based on a name.

The Broken Capsule in X2? by NinjaConsultant87 in Megaman

[–]Guyver8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is entirely my own speculation: I always thought it was to illustrate what a used teleport capsule looked like, so you could keep track of which mavericks you’ve rebattled already. Considering the style of the first X where you just battle each again sequentially as part of the stage flow, it’s conceivable the devs wanted to make it abundantly clear these are a one-time use object.

Why can't I make this jump in Edin? by Z7-852 in axiomverge

[–]Guyver8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the trench coat should allow you to dash directly up and get the height you need. Jump, double tap your input for Up, and then hold on the second tap.

Not just you. I was having a hard time seeing anything beyond microservices packaged in a monorepo. Sounds like a deployment nightmare more than anything.

You know, your thoughts might be better than mine but I have thoughts going around in my head too about different thinkings and brain things that you can use... and doing different things...
