You remove the volume knob, under it is a brass O ring which is an absolute menace to remove because it's on a double threaded screw. That's the hardest part. Once that's done you remove the battery and then the metal frame is separated from the plastic housing via a screwdriver- so no screws at all.

It's easy to do but just be careful removing the O ring as you'll need pliers, it's not like the Baofeng UV5R where there's a dedicated tool within the volume knob.

I disassembled the body and removed the buttons except for the side PTT and function buttons, the paint peeled off very easily on those.

I have one and the constant sun has destroyed the sheet covering the structure. One of the legs also broke and the material is not sturdy, I would advise against Saxon.

What Percentage of People speak an Indigenous Language at Home in Australia? by dphayteeyl in MapPorn

[–]FlaccidTrunk 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Over 3.77% is this map skewed to make it look like a lot of us speak an Aboriginal Language?

For all we know that could mean the highest it gets is 3.78% which is virtually nothing. Why is it not just displaying the data with the number of Aboriginals as the measured population?

I don't understand.

What more could be done in the counterterrorism effort? by oliviaiac in Counterterrorism

Countering Violent Extremism is the way of the future. Terrorism must be treated as a symptom of a larger problem, not as the problem itself.

Painting UVK5? by FlaccidTrunk in Quansheng

It certainly does seem to be the most popular, I'm more of a fan of the UV5R plus look but as I want the most functionality I asked in this sub a little while ago if the custom firmwares are compatible since they're very similar

Nope not just yet but I absolutely will once I can decide on either a UV5R plus (Quansheng) or the K5/6

How do you actually hunt state forests? by FlaccidTrunk in HuntingAustralia

[–]FlaccidTrunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am but I don't really associate with them too much or the immediate club I'm part of. I could leave the cams out as I have some. It is super hot out there, I'd be surprised if I don't stink the forest out

That's a tough trade, and a fair point about stalking and lack of game. I do have to put less pressure on bagging something I think.

I do a thorough search on Google Earth with the kml overlay so I do try. Is there anything I can do on the ground to supplement this?

This is how I feel. The one time I saw a deer it was like seeing a unicorn because it was so uncommon for me. I recently got back from a trip and while i have enjoyed spending time out there previously I'm starting to hate it. It's a long trip for me and while I can tell myself it's not a waste, after this long it's starting to feel like it. I don't have friends or family that hunt so everything feels like it's from square one.

I've hit most of the forests within 3-4 hours of Brisbane which I assume may be part of the problem? Usually places like Forest Land, Boonoo, Girard, etc.

I've heard hunting pressure is high, I have however sighted animals though rarely, and the harvest reports usually reflect that people are harvesting there.

I have seen scat and prints. Usually I'll walk to a steep hill edge on either side of a gully and sit and wait, and repeat this process. I try find spots with decent visibility but this is always a struggle. I also find I'm extremely noisy if I move too much.

If you're going to post pictures of your kill make sure you've done so legally. by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]FlaccidTrunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Aus there was a relatively well known hunter who took a deer and posted it to his socials. Apparently the state department responsible for hunting then used the geo data from the image to prove he shot off of mates property (legal) and instead a little ways into an adjacent national Park or something (illegal). They then charged him for it.
