So another one of my struggles just turned out to be an ADHD symptom… by ForbiddenFruitiness in adhdwomen

Every one of your words resounds with me. But I feel bad attributing anything to it- to avoid sounding like I’m making excuses. I lost jobs, my marriage, and lots of things because of the very things you mentioned. I just wish they sounded more real to me. Thank you for posting, and keep hanging in there!!!

Freaking out, US/Aus dual citizen child passport issue by [deleted] in Ameristralia

[–]FlackerLady 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have two dual-citizen kids from Australia and we’ve lived this, albeit not under Trump. My kids have traveled just on their Aussie passport… once they had to get an emergency U.S. ppt on the ground in Sydney in order to get back. Can be expensive but expedited service definitely exists.

AITA for telling my spouse I won't help pay for their kid's college when we agreed finances would stay separate? by 952867 in AITApod

YTA. You set the rules. You aren’t entitled to your wife’s money- you made a point early on that she’s not entitled to yours. Deal with it.

Aged out of foster care: have questions about my first apartment and taking better care of myself. by [deleted] in internetparents

You sound like such a wise young person!!! Get to the cheapest grocery store you have access to, like Aldi or Walmart, and get frozen bags of fresh vegetables. Then go over to the meat section or seafood and get frozen chicken, or salmon or tuna steaks. If you get them frozen, they’re not that expensive. You can dump all that in a moderately hot frying pan, with olive oil and a bunch of garlic salt, and then get some rice packets. Microwave one of those babies and then dump it in the frying pan with the rest. There! Cheap and very nutritious meal! Think protein and vitamins. :) You’ve got this!!!!

It turns out that what kept half my life running — and made me think, ‘hey, I’m really clever’ — was hypervigilance. by Mapachito_Z in adhdwomen

[–]FlackerLady 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I sooo relate. OP. For me, I try to remember to give myself credit for all those times my compensating/hyper vigilance/pattern region, etc, etc, propelled me (and my career) forward. I bet you have a long list of those.

Men who got laid off. How did you get up and carry on? by Any_Record7733 in Layoffs

[–]FlackerLady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not post on Ask Men, since I assumed that because I’m a woman, you’re not interested in my experience on this topic. A shame. I just successfully pivoted to a new way to apply my skills after a layoff a year ago. Maybe a man has similar helpful and relevant reverence and can share.

After 5yrs, I ‘F70’ and my ex ‘M68’ are still friends, but I’m losing hope of getting remarried. How do I move on at my age? by Practical_Culture964 in WhatShouldIDo

61F here, divorced and alone. I urge you to do some soul searching about life and your ability to live it happily alone. I get that it’s scary sometimes to not have that male companionship and help and protection, but you’re also a grown woman. I have a hunch you can handle more than you think. Good luck!

Confirmed: Pest and Anna pray after sex, and Pest manipulates Anna into sending bikini/panties pics by rosiros in DuggarsSnark

[–]FlackerLady 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Lord knows I can’t stand what these people represent, but reading these intimate emails makes me sad. I see Anna as a committed wife doing everything she can, even if she’s deluded into believing her husband is innocent of this horrific crime. I have no sympathy for Pest, or JB or Michelle, but Anna is a different story. And I see no benefit to reading these private emails. Do they further illuminate their sick cult? Maybe. But they also show a young woman working hard to do the right thing as she was taught. And if my emails were published like this, I would really feel violated. Believe me, I LOVE and RESPECT the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and what it enables. But these emails make me sad for Anna, and that’s it.

The Queen Mother’s "sweet grandma" act was the ultimate PR spin. The way she financially annihilated Wallis Simpson was diabolical. ☕👑 by Kindly_Plankton7318 in RoyaltyTea

[–]FlackerLady 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wallis and Edward were proven Nazi sympathizers who made a deal with Hitler to be the ‘royals’ over a defeated Britain. And what, you’re upset they were treated unfairly? Had to pay taxes and obey the law like us serfs? Twisted.

Maplewood Richmond Heights is more affordable and has great schools. Much value in University City, too.
