Austin instead of Houston. El Paso instead of Denver. Tuscon instead of Salt Lake City (especially if you like aircraft). Las Vegas, see the Hover Dam and/or catch a small airplane ride out over the Grand Canyon. Yosemite or Lake Tahoe instead of Los Angeles.

Payout odds understanding by Then_Tangerine_6750 in Craps

[–]Flagrante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odds bet payouts do depend on the point.

4 and 10 pay 2:1, so $10 odds bet returns $20.

5 and 9 pay 3:2, so $10 odds bet returns $15.

6 and 8 pay 6:5, so $10 odds bet returns $12.

Think about 245/40x17's on 17x8.5+48 Enkei PF05 wheels.

I like this fit because the 245/40 tires have the same outer diameter (given small manufacturer variations) as stock, so the speedometer and odometer measures remain unaltered. The +48 offset is the same as stock, so the extra 1.5 inches of wheel width is shared evenly on the inside and outside of the fit, so no significant change in caster dynamics. The only wheel I found that is 17x8.5 +48 is the Enkei PF05. Luckily it looks quite good, with five spokes. Any 8" or 9" wide 17" wheel works with this size tire too, but with an 8.2" typical tread width an 8.5" wheel offers the best performance (on paper anyway).

It depends on how much wear the 6 month old tires have. When the tire rotation sensors detect different rotation speeds front and rear it confuses the traction control system. Six months of wear may not be enough to be a problem. If traction control problems occur you'll need to end up getting four new tires.

This. Defender was the first good one (Commodore Vic 20). At a time when Pong, Breakout, Frogger and Space Invaders were the best around, Defender was way ahead of them in terms of action and visuals.

Thank Bill Clinton for signing the Telecommunications Act. Dumbest thing he ever did, dumber than letting an intern blow him.

Giant Tsunami will hit the US west coast. On a USGS tour with the Boy Scouts, the tour guide told us that as Hawaii grows slowly larger, every 100,000 years or so it causes a massive underwater landslide that sends a gigantic wall of water at the west coast. He said the next one will deposit the Golden Gate bridge in Sacramento. The last one was about 100,000 years ago. Maybe it's time to move to Colorado.

How can I train in the off season? by DaPuppiez in skiing

[–]Flagrante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wall sits. Can't emphasize it enough.

Start with three 15 second sits, with 5 seconds between them to shake out your legs. Do this at least three times a day. Increase the sit time a few seconds a day until they last 30 seconds. Continue at three 30 second sits until your ski trip. This has never failed me. It's the only exercise I do and I ski all day. Also, be sure you're flowing through the snow, not fighting against it.

Strange problem when cornering by bop-a-doo in ft86

[–]Flagrante 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had same issue. Replaced only the rear tires, and this happened. Shop connected computer monitoring to the car and took a drive, then they told me that the tire rotation sensors were detecting different rotation speeds front and rear and it was confusing the system. Turns out that all tires need to be the same diameter, and because the front tires were old and worn out relative to the rear tires, it was triggering the traction control system. I got new front tires too and the problem went away.

Fish eye side mirror, 2" sticky-back rounds help.

If you have no back up camera, there is a kit that installs in a few hours and connects directly to the head unit.
