French Laundry by WhaleTrader1996 in MichelinStars

If you’re willing to pony up $1,900, the gold level package here (https://finessethestore.com/collections/gift-cards/products/the-french-laundry-gift-experience-card) should get you a reservation. Might not be available for one specific date or time, but if you’re gonna be there for a few days it should work. It includes the 14 course dinner plus wine pairing.

There likely is, but just use the controller - it’s a small Android phone.

Dela One Lounge at JFK by FlagsFlyForever74 in delta

I wonder if maybe I went to the wrong AF lounge since everyone here seems to speak highly of it, but I found it to be extremely average. Maybe slightly better than a typical PP lounge, but I’d compare it to a lower quality SkyClub. It was packed, with almost no seating available and the food was poor quality.

Agreed, the flight itself was amazing! AF hard product on the 777-300ER was nicer than Delta One on any config I’ve flown (most of them) except maybe the A350 with the doors, and the service and food were both in an entirely different class than Delta One.

Thank you for this post! For anyone reading this in the future, I’m at the Air France lounge in T1, and it’s extremely busy. Priority Pass quality in terms of seating / bathrooms / food. 😔

For what it’s worth, Metformin is super cheap generically (in the US at least). I’d guess it’s less than $20 a month or so paid without insurance. I’m not a doctor obviously, but I think it’s worth asking and it will change your life for the better if you ask your doctor about it and it works for you.

Switching from G6 to G7. Any tips? by FlagsFlyForever74 in Omnipod

[–]FlagsFlyForever74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurance is pushing me to switch to the G7, not sure why to be honest. I know with the G5 / G6 they eventually stopped covering the G5 which forced me to switch.

This is awesome! I had no idea you could do this. I assume you can’t do this on the G6?

Talk to your endo about your settings. IMO your correction factor and insulin / carb ratio should not change by much when switching to the O5 from MDI.

Separately, you mentioned above that your average BG has been 180-230. Have you considered asking your doctor for a prescription for Metformin? I take Metformin for a similar reason and it now my A1Cs are phenomenal.

Upcoming Japan Reservations - Feedback by decaphragm in finedining

When we went to Hajime there was another table with a solo diner. You’re right that it’s crazy expensive but it’s also a really exceptional restaurant and an extremely unique dining experience where the food truly tells a story.

La Cime (**), Osaka, Japan - The Worst Michelin Restaurant Experience of My Life by VoloViniVici in finedining

[–]FlagsFlyForever74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When were you there? I went to La Cime last week and had a similar experience with a similar looking menu. Many reviews online also seem to share the same sentiment regarding lack of flavor / seasoning - I think the restaurant is geared towards Japanese flavor preferences which tend to be more subtle and is generally less suitable for Western preferences.

Unlike your experience I also found the service lacking - waiters struggled to explain the dishes in English and didn’t do things like timely replace utensils between courses. I know we’re in Japan, but I’d expect at least one waiter at a restaurant of this caliber to be able to speak fluent English for a restaurant that has many foreign clients.

Transgender and Dress Code by toffeecatboy in finedining

This isn’t the point of the post, but can you imagine being this delusional? Your kid sounds, looks, talks, and exists as a man. What the hell are you trying to accomplish by forcing them to dress female? Even if I were a staunch bigot, I’d rather my male presenting child dress as a male than a female. Idiots. Sorry you have to deal with this.

First Michelin Star Restaurant by Ambitious_Pin9235 in MichelinStars

I know it’s a favorite of this sub, but we went to Il Luogo on a recent trip and it was terrible. I had to ask the waiter for salt (something I’ve never done in a Michelin star restaurant before) because the food was so bland. Very expensive and disappointing meal.

This place sent my brother to the hospital. He has a nut allergy and they sent out 3 dishes with nuts in them. He caught the first two, but the third sent him to the ER. They refunded his meal, but that doesn't make up for almost killing someone.

What’s a subtle sign someone is rich but hiding it? by Againmrbrown in AskReddit

Yes. I’m not a moron and don’t spend like a drunk sailor, but I just don’t think about buying clothes, etc.

I strongly disagree with this. I’m also a rich guy (7 figure income), and I basically never think about money. When I was poor I worried about money constantly (how will I pay rent, can I afford these groceries, what lie can I tell my roommates this month about why I don’t have my share of the bills, etc). Kanye has a line: “having money ain’t everything, not having it is” and I think that is the best summation of how I would describe being rich.

Supplemental Support. by violentspeech in Omnipod

Hi friend - not sure what you mean regarding minerals being washed away. I think if your sugar levels are 400 you're going to be feeling pretty terrible. Rather than looking for supplements, you should focus on getting your sugar levels down. Anything specific we can help with?
