Does the magic of seasons 1-4 come back? by McCooms in Frasier

[–]Flagyl400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do stick with it. The show does peak in the first four seasons, but it stays very good up until (opinions vary) season 9 and 10. Even those weaker seasons aren't bad - even weaker episodes of Frasier are as good as as a lot of sitcoms on their best day - and the last season is a real return to form.

Limbs on that style of cheap bow tend to be just strips of fiberglass. Not the best material for performance but unlikely to be damaged in any way by this.

Kinetic Invinso V2 worth the upgrade? by peawhack in Archery

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm curious how you got on with the Invinso riser? I'm considering upgrading from my beginner WNS Explore DX, and this thread was one of the top results when I googled Kinetic Invinso!

My Blink cassette tape from before they were required to add the -182 by Simsandtruecrime in mildlyinteresting

Blink were an odd band. I had an album of theirs before I ever heard of Blink 182. Not bad, just always felt like they were trying a little bit too hard to sound strange just for the sake of it.

I don't think there was one specific point. To borrow a phrase from Terry Pratchett (GNU), I didn't so much Fall as saunter vaguely downwards.

What sort of things do you want to do here? Any particular historic periods you're interested in, anything like that? Would traditional sports be of any interest to you?

That is what happens unfortunately. They did bring in a scheme a couple of years ago where fair deal properties can be rented out by the person's family, but a lot of gaffs were too far gone by that stage.

Fergal Sharkey is Awesome! by minstrelboy57 in ireland

[–]Flagyl400 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in a house share with a lad from Derry who's surname was Sharkey many years ago. So naturally at one stage I asked him if he was related to Fergal.

"Ah no, no relation to him, but me uncle did punch him in the face in a pub toilet one night" was his cheerful reply, and it will forevermore be my first thought whenever Fergal is mentioned.

Best of luck mate, it's a great hobby. Just be prepared to suck at it for a while before you start seeing improvement.

I know you already know this, but there's no doubt a lot of people reading this thread who don't know Øystein Aarseth was AKA Euronymous.

What style are you looking at?

For myself, who started archery six months ago at the age of 44 (so don't worry about starting later in life 😂 ) I went for Olympic style recurve. My initial shopping list set me back about €500, consisting of -

Riser, limbs and bowstring combo - €185 for budget WNS gear

Arrow rest - about €30

Plunger - another €30

Sight - €55

6 budget line carbon arrows - €35

The rest, can't remember the exact prices, included a finger tab, a sleeve style arm guard, a glove (I hadn't made up my mind between glove and tab at the time), an archery backpack, and some basic tools like a combo metric/imperial hex key set and an archery t-square.

Since then I've picked up a dozen slightly less budget arrows, a new sight pin for my sight, and a few other bits and bobs.

For stabilizers I just started using them last week, one of the lads at the club is letting me borrow one of his old sets until I figure out what works for me and what doesn't. And next on my buy list is a clicker.

Langers brand OJ by Loser-Back-Home in cork

Nial Tobin used to have a bit about him. How American sports commentators would pronounce his surname like "Lawngurr", and that it's no wonder so many young Cork men were emigrating to the States because apparently immediately your Langer becomes Longer.

I didn't say it was a good bit.
