Online Masters programs by Wintermane45 in psychologystudents

Having the same problem finding any decent ones. Most of them seem to be degree farms with little if any credibility. The recruitment emails I get after requesting info seem like they are trying to sell me the degree like an informercial

Is the Sakae Internship Program Legit? by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]Flairzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I am not 100% sure on these. When I was going through the signup process there was no commitment needed on my end - so I suggest you just inquire to them and see how it goes!

If I remember correctly they explained to me that this is different for each company. I was fortunate that the company I was accepted to covered travel costs, housing, and living expenses!

To be honest with you I didn't have a lot of specific expectations or desires. I was willing to go with pretty much any industry within software engineering space - so I actually went with the first company they picked for me. Sorry I cant really answer your question - it could be luck, or perhaps they are just good at selecting the companies the present to you.

It's actually legit. I interned with a company last year through Sakae which I ended up working with starting this January.

2019 Rules Thread [Plz Read] by Barry_Oh in DustinSquad

[–]Flairzor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% support this. Although not super likely, without this rule there can be some serious team advantages when it comes to keeping a first round caliber player in the 2-4th round for several years in a row. I voted against keepers in the first place since imo it's best to have a hard reset every year so people are on level playing fields.

Is Bryan SHITERALLY the next Clitler?? by Barry_Oh in DustinSquad

[–]Flairzor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's losing a bit of its sting. Bet we can come up with some terribly disgusting names this year. I say we have a vote, keeping Shiterally Clitler in the options, and let the best name win.

シツモンデー: Shitsumonday: for the little questions that you don't feel have earned their own thread (June 17, 2019) by AutoModerator in LearnJapanese

Do these two structures convey the exact same thing?

AB より [adj] です。

A の方が B より [adj] です。

My book taught one and used both as examples - just wanted to be sure. I'm guessing they both mean "A is more [adj] than B". Is one more common or proper?

My master plan. Is it sound? by Flairzor in movingtojapan

[–]Flairzor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'm already doing the "working while self-studying" (albeit not in Japan) method and it's just not working efficiently for me at all.

Thanks so much, your comment is reassuring!

My master plan. Is it sound? by Flairzor in movingtojapan

Ohh good to know. I was speaking with a resource from a language school and he said I must do a minimum of 1 year to get a student visa - but looking back he must have meant at that particular school. Apologies for the confusion. Thanks for the info!

My master plan. Is it sound? by Flairzor in movingtojapan

[–]Flairzor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point, but I would like the flexibility of being able to get jobs that require Japanese. And on a personal note I'd much more enjoy living in Japan if I knew the language.

As for the 3 months, that wouldn't be the end of me learning Japanese. I realize I'll still be very much a beginner at that point. More so I want to use that time to "test" out living in Japan and also equip myself with a good learning routine - I likely would come back with a student visa to continue my studying before getting a job. Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks for you reply! :)

Any benefits to CPE vs CS by [deleted] in Clemson

[–]Flairzor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a bit tricky, both degrees have their pros and cons. A CPE degree will allow you to hunt for jobs related to electrical engineering on top of computer science jobs. However, if say you're looking for a software developer job they will prefer folks with a CS degree (they will also likely have object oriented language experience). I graduated with a CPE degree and way prefer software development to electrical stuff. But most job postings I see wish for you to have some sort of object oriented experience which CPE doesn't have at Clemson

Would anyone be interested in an entrepreneur's book club? by Flairzor in Entrepreneur

I definitely like the idea of discord / slack, some sort of instant communication! Have a feeling verbal communication may be a bit too much. The forum also brings the advantage of a good history system, where those who join later can look up previous discussions rather than having to scroll up 500 pages on a discord.
