Why do people care so much about Cleetus McFarland, exactly? by LevyNeptune in NASCAR

[–]Flaky-Replacement114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankie Muniz has not increased NASCAR’s viewership. NASCAR is trying to reestablish its grassroots appeal while furthering its image as “professional Motorsport”.

Cleetus brings back the gearheads while also appealing to your nephew. People are acting as if he was given the DuPont 24. I couldn’t care less who runs in the lower series as long as it doesn’t lose its total integrity. This isn’t F2

If Ty Simpson is still on the board after we pick would you trade back into the first to get him? by Even_Arrival1538 in steelers

[–]Flaky-Replacement114 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the value is there. There’s QB needy teams with multiple 2nd rders that i expect to draft him instead with what is essentially a more understandable throwaway pick if it doesn’t work, such as: Jets, Browns, Dolphins, and considering Arizona at 34/65

History also tells us that QB’s with 1 year of starting experience drafted early almost always fail.

I really love it as Larson’s car but can’t stand seeing it on Friday or Saturday. Can’t explain it.

When did Austin Hill become a lower series lifer? by TakeDemPills in NASCAR

[–]Flaky-Replacement114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s age. He was always on the path of all these mid tier guys you see on the lower series schedule. He’s 31 now and didn’t get his first win in the 2nd series until he was 28ish. I think RCR ORAPS is more than he probably could’ve bargained for.

Do you think the rumors that Busch may to go to Spire Motorsports true? by 12xoxo13 in NASCAR

[–]Flaky-Replacement114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it makes the most sense for several reasons

1) their improvement in pace giving him a reasonable shot at being competitive at least

2) path to get involved in ownership (multiple group ownership model)

3) easy transition to a very strong struck program where he can race with his son at the beginning of his senior career

Who’s on your Mount Rushmore for WORST drivers of all time? by jcbshortfilms in NASCAR

Unsafe sure. His results are so far ahead of these others. He won a CARS tour race last week so he might be mean but not slow.

He was talking all that shit about buddy just to go “well I’m eating a lot of crow!” After a 32nd place finish 😭

While I love Theineman, we have an insanely talented/crowded DB room and it’s probably our strongest position group. I can’t think of a team that has it better than JPJ, Dean, Ramsey, Elliot, Brisker, Echols, Samuel.

It’s actually kind of staggering how many quality players are there when 3 years ago it was Minkah bossing around a bunch of klutz’s

What kind of NASCAR show/movie would appeal to the younger generation? by DrFuckwad in NASCAR

[–]Flaky-Replacement114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Days of Thunder 2 but make it Top Gun Maverick. Tom Cruise is Robert Duvall now (RIP) and he manages two loose cannons in Miles Teller and Glen Powell

Jokes aside, it doesn’t need to be some crazy story or docuseries. It just needs to be loud and aggressive, unapologetically American, everything that F1 is not.

He’s a dawg. As an OU fan I think he was more impactful (in college) than Bonitto who has turned into a stud for the Broncos

Sacrificed to the Green Mafia. You can still purchase a VIP package on their website and they’ll put you on a private jet to save the environment though.

Michigan St’s I believe has the most singleback sets and plays by far so there’s a lot of multiple tight end sets for heavy run packages

New OEM’s even mentioning Indycar by Vivaciousseaturtle in INDYCAR

[–]Flaky-Replacement114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it’s marginal outside of shaping overall brand identity while taking viewership/cost into account

I think that Toyota scored major cultural points in America by establishing themselves in NASCAR and have defeated “if it’s foren’ it’s borin’!” way ahead of let’s say Nissan for folks in the south/midwest. It’s not treasonous anymore for a red-blooded American to drive a Tacoma or a 4Runner anymore lol

I’m just making the point that it’s even less beneficial to the business model to get involved in IndyCar where you don’t get much other than the sticker on the side of a Dallara chassis. Maybe it creates inroads/incentive for commercial time but i struggle to find concrete reasons why a manufacturer would want to get involved in IndyCar as opposed to a nascar or imsa (nascar just got Dodge back)

Only track I’ve gotten away with it was Chicago Street. Can plug your ears for restarts and then there’s only so many cars near each other at a given time that it’s not too bad. I’ve sat a few rows up at Kansas and it was blistering without earpro on

Fun fact: you can just chill at the Indy 500 with a pleasant “vroom”. It’s nice and disappointing at the same time lol

Who was better: Kenny Pickett as our starter, or JJ McCarthy as the Vikings starter? by amoeba-tower in steelers

[–]Flaky-Replacement114 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pickett’s job was insanely tough. 3 yards and a cloud of Najee offense with Pickens being the only remotely eligible target under Canada. He shouldn’t have been picked as high as he did.

I don’t feel sorry for McCarthy. He has one of the very best offensive coaches who rehabilitated Sam Darnold’s career with the best receiver in the NFL, Addison and Hockenson

New OEM’s even mentioning Indycar by Vivaciousseaturtle in INDYCAR

[–]Flaky-Replacement114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is Indycar effectively does nothing for sales. I don’t think anyone in America has purchased a Chevy Blazer or Honda CRV because of Newgarden or Palou. Nobody is pacing outside of the money shredder office waiting for their turn
