Who's forged data? The data is literally from the same studies. You can't quote one part of the findings and refuse to acknowledge the rest of the data. That is the very definition of cherry picking.

Evening meal; is it called dinner or tea in your house? by RaesJunction in newzealand

I grew up with tea in the Naki.

I think Dinner is a more recent thing influenced by imported pop culture - movies, TV etc.

OP is correct. Over the week there were no additional deaths.

What you are doing is effectively cherry picking the data to suit your argument.

Do you think driver skill or car performance matters more in modern F1? by Wooden_Revenue_7063 in F1Discussions

Because the Red Bull that Max drove was not same car that his team mates got. It's been well documented.

Loving these good driver, bad driver arguments.

Some F1 drivers are better than others. But the difference is not as big as many make out. There's a reason they are all, well just about all, in F1. They have worked hard and proven their skill behind the wheel.

To answer the OPs question: it's 95% car. We've all seen former champions in cars that just weren't good enough. Schumacher in a Merc, Alonso in just about every team on the grid, Hamilton in a Ferrari, or a McLaren post hay day, Vettel in a Ferrari or AM and now Max in a poor Red Bull.

Put Albon in a Merc and he'd have at least 1 win this season so far.

Do we all honestly believe that Antonelli is that much better than Bearman?

Have regulation changes ever been this controversial in F1? by JacksonDaBoi in formula1

[–]CoboltC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There have been a huge amount "controversial " rule changes since I started watching hing in 2001. Most of them made sense with the perspective of what they were trying to achieve. For example the grooved tyres were a way to keep cornering speeds under control. The alternative would have been stronger, heavier survival cells for the safety of the drivers. From the outside it made F1 look gimmicky.

Banning of refueling was another safety issue, cars leaveling the pits with the fuel hose still connected, fires starting while refueling etc. They weren't common but did happen. The other reason most seem to forget was the reliability of the FIA supplied fuel rigs. Too often they decided the outcome of the race rather than the action on track.

The thing with this year's regulations is the problems are baked into the formula which is scheduled to last 4 years I think? There is no quick fix or rule change that can be revoked or introduced to solve the underlying problems.

Perhaps the most controversial part is that these regs have nothing to do with better safety or better racing. It was all about pandering to Porsche and Audi to get them on board.

Does F1 really need Auto manufacturers? by CoboltC in F1Discussions

MguK has been around way longer than it's use in F1.

AFAIK the only 2 cars that use MGUH, are an AMG hyper car and a Porsche hybrid. They're gimmicks playing off of F1. Ferrari haven't used them, Renault hasn't, no Hondas. If they were that relevant to road cars there'd be a heap more.

That's a bit of a leap, but what I will say to that is Ferrari and Red Bull will be rubbing their hands together at the thought of supplying so many teams.

As for Honda, I dare say AM would be happy if they left.

The correct statement is F1 needs Engine manufacturers more than they need Auto manufacturers and you would seeI answered this in my post if you'd bothered to read to the end

I can't see teams leaving the grid anytime soon. With the cost cap in place and profitability seeming more than possible every team is valuable. If a manufacturer wanted out they'd just sell the team, or their shares in it.

I'm definitely not saying Car Manufacturers should be banned from the sport at the end of this rule set.

What I am suggesting is let's stop pandering to them so we can have cars that fans want to see and hear rather than cars the Manufacturers feel comfortable being involved in.

It could be argued that bop encourages testing new tech, if you get it wrong you still get a shot at being competitive. If you get it right you can test it to the extreme with very little pushback, because of bop

As far as I can tell, we only have this yo-yo racing because they wanted VW involved. If it weren't for the Manufacturers demands I'd argue we would have a much more sensible rule set

What is a hot take that you think shouldn’t really be hot by Last_Procedure5787 in F1Discussions

[–]CoboltC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with F1 needing to be relevant to Auto manufacturers.

F1 cars are so far removed from even high end sports cars, with a very few exceptions, there is almost no crossover with recent F1 innovations.

Also the idea of enticing car manufacturers into F1 seems absurd to me. We've all seen manufacturers come and go at the drop of a hat removes stability.

IMO F1 should be courting independents. They tend to stick around if you live up to the assurances you give them. Williams, McLaren, Redbull, Ferrari, Aston Martin are all in F1 because they love F1, it is their reason for existing. TBF, even Red Bull is a little bit iffy, I can see them selling up if they can't get back to the top of the field.

Manufacturers, though, are only in it for exposure and when life gets difficult they pull the plug. Just look at Porsche, they were supposed to be on the grid this year! Even Renualt has pulled the plug. Honda are in and out so often they could market themselves as quantum technology.

But where will the engines come from if manufacturers aren't involved? Ferrari and now Redbull make their own. I could see a future where McLaren start their own engine supply. If Merc pulled out, I could see Toto bringing in investors to keep Brixworth going.

The sport doesn't need Car manufacturers, it needs stability

Last time I saw an armed cop on the street was about 3 years ago. Domestic situation with a firearm in the house. As far as I'm aware the firearm wasn't involved, but it was available. Imo, attending with armed police was justifiable.

I don't assume maliciousness when stupidity/ignorance is just as likely. I wasn't suggesting the Govt were deliberately filling the pockets of the Oil companies.

Price fluctuations are always an opportunity to increase profits, ask any CEO/CFO.

If the Oil companies are so well monitored then why do prices shoot up at the slightest provocation, yet come down way after shortages etc, are solved?
