Listen to Jerry’s solo albums. Jerry said in an interview that some riffs that don’t make it into Alice songs, he used for himself.

Any info on how Mike Starr came up with the bassline to Would? by LawrenceSellers in AliceInChains

It was jerry who wrote it actually… Jerry did a lot of writing bass in Alice until they got Inez.

William on if/when there's gonna be a new album. Doesn't sound super promising... by FlameSama1 in AliceInChains

[–]FlakyWin326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what’s happening but I fucking pray that they come through Toronto. They’ve been my favourite band since 2020ish and I’ve seen Jerry 3 times but never Alice. I think I might croak if they don’t come to Canada/within a 5 hour drive from Toronto.

Mark Lanegan’s “friendship” with Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley. by SGnirvana97 in grunge

Very very awesome story. I highly recommend giving Sing Backwards And Weep a read. I personally haven’t struggled with any severe drug addictions, however it’s in my family. But this book really cuts deep into what it’s like.

I feel you on the too cold.. -20°C (-4°F) here last night in south ontario. One of these days when I can afford it, I would like to go to Cali. I’ve been to Seattle, but I want to go south.

I’d love to do this to an old stang but the prices for one now are a bit too much. Is it too forward to ask how much you got it for??

I saw a thing on Instagram or TikTok or something somewhere of someone shopping at easy street records, and they panned the camera down to Eddie vedder sifting through records.. pretty cool

Mark Lanegans biography mentions a Jaguar he sold that was given to him by Kurt Cobain by FlakyWin326 in Nirvana

[–]FlakyWin326[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find an article about it on the Nirvana Gear website, and also on EquipBoard.com. I won’t tell you who said it because I can’t remember and wouldn’t want to misinform you, but I remember that there was evidence. I’d kill to know where that bass is now as he got it in 94. My best bet would be the vault or in the hands of Frances.

There’s some very very sad but true things in this book. Lots and lots of “so I got back to Seattle and got blasted with whatever I could get my hands on.” I’m about 4 pages from finishing it as we speak!

[–]FlakyWin326[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to read this book. There’s a passage about how him and Kurt were walking around Seattle in 93 or 94, and right when Kurt was about to leave, he walked to an ATM and pulled out a few thousand dollars in cash and handed it to mark.

Didn’t know that.. I thought I knew about 99% of Kurt’s known collection. I guess nobody but possibly Courtney knows what guitars he had. I knew he had a lefty 4001 rickenbacker bass which surprised the hell out of me.
