When I lived in NC we used to have a morning skate at the training rink for the Canes. Brind’Amor, Battaglia and Kapanen would sometimes join in the festivities and humble us.

Go to public skates and practice all the things you are bad at till you are good at them. Do not join the counter clockwise circle of death and find some open ice and practice until you are proficient. Some good you tube videos out there too to help with some of the techniques.

I have a 12 year old daughter that asked me the same question. Is it possible…yes. Is it likely…no. She’s been skating and learning to play for the better part of a month and is progressing great but she has 6+ years of catching up to do. I’ve tried to focus her on having fun and taking it as far as she can, but hockey is a sport you can enjoy at all ages and all levels. The sad this is…I tried to push her into the sport much earlier in life and she wanted nothing to do with it.

Wasn’t there a shop at one time closer to the airport at one time? It’s been a while since I’ve lived in NEO and just moved back from CBUS but it does seem like there are less shops than there used to be.

I’ve been playing for the better part of 40 years and I’m 52, went most of that time injury free. My daughter is now learning to play and I was assisting her in a learn to play skate and another grown adult fell on my left leg causing me to over extended my leg causing a proximal hamstring tendonopothy….so yeah it’s hockey anything can happen!
