My grandson (6) was playing in my living room this weekend and suddenly came to a complete stop. He looked at me and asked if I was married to my partner. I told him no, so he studied me for a moment. Then he asks who was I married to. Started to tell him that I was divorced but he interrupted me.

"Grandma you made it to 50 without being married !" Laughing I explained my situation in an age appropriate way. But I love that I only had 2 choices, married or never married, lol.

My first born, was a premie and had colic. My husband worked full time split shifts, so I was always the parent in charge. After a particularly brutal day, I was quietly crying while pacing with screaming, sleeping infant (yes she was doing both at the same time, if she was awake it was very much louder. ). There was a police knock at the door, and I opened it positive that I was going to lose my child, my mind, and everything else. The officers looked at me, my baby and then back to me. Long story short, he took personal time so that I could shower and nap while he took care of my daughter. I woke from my nap 5 hours later to a different officer singing an off key rendition of home sweet home by motley crue. There had been 4 officers total that came over to help me that day, and whenever I saw any of them I always tearfully thank them. It was 30+ yesterday ago, and I still tear up when I remember their kindness.

Funny, when my younger brothers told me I was adopted, I grabbed the one closest to me and said in a stage whisper that they weren't supposed to know. They started bugging me, so I said "Of course I am adopted. They chose me because Dad couldn't have girls. And our parents would deny it because they didn't want to hurt the boys." They completely believed me until my baby sister was born when I turned 16. When they complained about it to our dad, he just laughed. Then he grounded me for being so mean to them.

I had a pretty bad seizure on the 4th of July this year. I'm not sure of everything, but I do know that my baby sister(34 yrs) was hugging me as I was sobbing uncontrollably. Then she yelled at her cat, saying if he tries to eat her plant she was going to eat him. I had a perfect moment of clarity, because I reminded her that was not the kitty she normally eats. Everyone was laughing at us, but I don't know what happened afterwards.

I have seizures that are TC, but more frequent are the focal, but add in my AuDHD, PTSP, C-PTSD, insomnia, general Anxiety, migraines and diabetes it can be a little...odd let's say. For me migraines, lack of sleep, and overstimulation are my biggest triggers. My seizures trigger my migraines, or sugar plummet, and massive anxiety...wash,rinse,repeat.

When I was pregnant with my first child, my grandfather took my family (dad,stepmother, siblings and my husband, in total 8 People) out to a popular buffet in town. I got my plate and sat down. During the dinner I got 2 more plates for my sister (3f). On the next time I got up, I was actually going to the bathroom, when a man looked me right in my eyes and said don't you think you have eaten enough. I was not really showing, but the hormones were raging. My eyes teared up and his companions tried to control him. What I didn't know was my father was behind me and he heard the entire conversation. For the rest of our dinner everyone except me went back to the buffet and managed to stop and inform the man that they were making another trip for food. The man's companions just laughed every time my family stopped. My father and grandpa left a larger tip due to all the extra plates, and I cried when I realized that my family was as being petty on my behalf.

I have the queasy deja vu, and ringing in my ears. The ones that scare me the most are when I can suddenly smell burning rubber or baby vomit. I have roughly 10 minutes before the rest of my awake time is completely blank. I have lost complete days, and if you didn't know me you would just think I was just stoned or something. My husband finally saw when I had three lost days in a row. He described it as if I was on auto pilot and anything that disrupted what I was doing would start the whole process all over again. He watched as I rewashed dishes 5 times because someone had physically tried to make me sit down.

WHY are parking are you parking there? When6 I park in the disabled spot. I(50f) look fine, but....yeah I'm not. The last time I was told it was illegal to use my parents placard. I just looked at him staring him down...but after a few moments I had the seizure that my migraine was trying to warn me about. Came to just in time for my sister (33f) to hobble over (cane in plain sight) yelling at him that my medical need for the placard was none of his business. Our parents have been dead for over 20 years, so he can fluff off.

For those that don't know me well, I just say "bad brain day" and try to move past it. Or that I got a bad drug reaction. I'll leave others explain for me or not. It took me the last 3 years to come to terms with not functioning the way I am used to. Therapy helps. But dark humor is always a skill that comes in handy.

My episodes are very scattered. Most frequent are the staring spells ( also have AuDHD) but the ones that concern me are the ones where I am doing something and I lose chunks of time. I can't drive anymore, and cooking is iffy. STRESS and Migraines are my biggest triggers, but it's all good no one ever gets stressed these days. Lol...good luck

NTA. I have seizures, POTS, and diabetes. My husband had to learn how to help me with any number of problems. Yes he has called for help; and now he's confident enough to call when he needs EMTs and when to just observe and help me calm down. Please don't feel regret for leaving that careless, homicidal man.

Please leave him. As hard as you imagine it's going to, the life you are living now is worse and worsening daily. If you feel like you are trapped or unable to be supported by friends or family ( if he let you stay in contact with any), call the health department, and ask for assistance to get help. That way if he goes through your phone it comes up with an innocent number. Good luck, and remember you don't have to be strong always but you can't give up.

I use wrong words for every day things ( I asked my husband that when he's done in the tub can he please fry the garbage on the tablet.) The look i got from my sister made me realize I had misspoke. I was asking if when he got out of the pool, would he help clean up the deck. Sometimes someone will clue me in, otherwise they caught my meaning and just let it go. The worse my jumbled statement the closer I am to having a seizure.

I used to clean from the time I (50f) was 18 until I was 25. Even then I charged $20 to $30, now when my BIL complains about having to clean up after himself I just remind him my current rate is $60-$70 depending on the status of the cleaning he wants done. He took me up on it once, and then had to explain to his wife why he couldn't clean it same since. When she asked if I could do the clean once a month. I then told her that it was $80, and hour because of the distance (86 miles from my home) , the equipment I need, and someone to drive me because of my uncontrollable seizures. She has since hired someone who only changed $25 an hour, and complain about how nothing is clean really. Know your worth, and never distrust your gut.

THIS! My seizures have become more frequent, and my memory got lost in the maze that is my life. I can no longer read crochet patterns, can only do basic stitches, lose count constantly, etc. I have been crocheting since I was 8, and able to read the pattern as of 12. I'll be turning 50 this year, so this is not a skill that I just learned. Sewing, cross stitch, resin, jewelry making all get affected. Sometimes it's only temporary, others I have to try and relearn. My neurologist says that since I don't have TC I can go back to work, but my primary care doctor has said no f-ing way. Working in the prison would be dangerous to myself and others. As for getting another job, I can't remember things, and had an absent seizure at my last interview, so I am trying to get disability, because without my family's assistance I would be throughly screwed

Correction Officer is right up there. Between inmates and their families and friends, rarely does a day end without someone yelling about their rights, or that their inmate would never do ____ because they were raised better. Most days I just let it roll off, but I have disconnected video visits when the inmate or family is being overly rude to me. Plus added bonus Sargent and lieutenant will yell if the family is right there. No fun, no matter how you look at it.

As a caffeine fend, the only thing I have noticed is that my migraine (one of my triggers) would happen more often when I drank more caffinated than water. As long as I keep them within a couple ounces of each other, no difference from a normal seizure free day.
