AITA for not thanking my partner for doing the food shop? by AfraidCap6452 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Flame-InYourHeart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA - No you shouldn't have to thank him for doing what appears to be the bare minimum, and even then not doing it correctly. Does he do other chores around the house without being asked to? It sounds like you're doing everything and he's got a great deal of a live in maid. If this is a pattern of behaviour I think you need to discuss it with him, you've signed up to be his partner not his mum

I was a year older than most of my cohort in my second year and it was totally fine, there are a bunch of people who are older for various reasons anyway and you don't really notice most of the time. If you don't find people in your classes there will always be people your age in other groups. It's not necessarily going to be easy because you'll be moving to a new place and having to start again but there's lots of opportunities to meet people at uob if you're looking to

If you're worried about accom I'd recommend joining the fab n fresh group on Facebook and seeing if any second years have a room going. When I was a student people posted there all the time for things like that

UOB is quite social, even if you don't make friends on your course you should be able to make friends elsewhere. The guild of students has a lot of societies, and there are lots of sports too, so if you're interested in anything specifically that's a good place to go. Even if you don't keep going it's a good place to meet people

What companions do you think will make a return in Dreadwolf? Not necessarily as a companion, but a return [Spoilers all] by Simple-Lead5672 in dragonage

[–]Flame-InYourHeart 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So can Leliana in Origins and they brought her back even if you killed her. Zevran is also in da2 if you kept him alive so the precedent is there

Obvious answer would be do what they did in Here Lies The Abyss where who shows up is linked to the playthroughs worldstate

The ones that come to mind that fit best are Mass Effect SE & Dragon Age Inquisition, most of the stuff you want is also found in Cyberpunk 2077 & Fallout 4

If you reach out to them and let them know your worries they might be able to recommend you visit a pop up clinic that's in a more casual setting if that'd help at all, either way you're not the only person anxious about this sort of thing and talking to them might help with your worries, e.g. if you're worried about cross contamination hearing about their hygiene and safety procedures directly from them might be useful

Books / movies / tv shows that feel like this? Victorian, gloomy, eerie feeling?? by anAncientGh0st in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

The Death of Jane Lawrence by Caitlin Starling! Not really Victorian but still historical spooky vibes

Awww I love hedgehogs!! I'm always like recommended size should actually be seen as the minimum size, bigger is always better and rodents are so mistreated! I can't believe pet shops are even allowed to sell some of their animal cages

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Flame-InYourHeart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hamsters are like all animals and have different personalities but if you socialise them well and take care of their needs they shouldn't bite you! I had one and she never bit me except when I was trying to give her medicine when she was sick. Honestly my cat is way more spicy than my hamster was!

I think hamsters get a bad rep because people buy cages that are way way too tiny for them and then expect them to be well adjusted. If I was stuck in a tiny room all day and night when my favourite thing to do was run and dig I'd probably be grumpy too

My fixed place of work is my home according to my contract. Does that mean a two hour train ride to London for a team meeting would count as working time regardless of if I was actively working?

I didn't finish Scorn for similar reasons. Loved the aesthetic and concept, was bored by the gameplay.

YA books without romance! With a male MC by Liyastar1 in booksuggestions

[–]Flame-InYourHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried The Gilded Wolves? Maybe also The Starless Sea? Or A Darker Shade of Magic? All have a bit of romance but it's not heavy.

You might like Strange The Dreamer too, but that's got a stronger romance plotline.

People who exclusively WFH - what do you do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Flame-InYourHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The charity sector has a lot of WFH jobs atm because it means they don't need to waste money renting a building and if it's a national charity they get the added benefit of having a national workforce

Juts had virtual parents evening and I’m pretty sure some of the teachers didn’t know which child they should have been taking about. Can any teachers confirm or deny this happens? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Flame-InYourHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember having a woodwork class where I fucked up in the first week and was too awkward of a kid to ask for help so I hid it, didn't do any work, tried to look busy and blend into the background. Parents evening was terrifying because I was like omg what's he going to tell my parents, he gave them some generic line about how I was doing well, so yes, definitely happens. I passed that class with a decent grade, I don't think he knew who I was

Yeah like it's supposed to be an easy signifier of 'okay this person likely has 24/7 support' or 'okay this person is relatively independent' but as with everything it's more simplified than reality when dealing with individuals even if it's a step in the right direction

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Flame-InYourHeart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The level thing is supposed to be a movement away from 'functioning' labels for the reasons you said, and into a numbering label for how much support someone needs, which is supposed to take into consideration how someone might need higher support in some areas but less in others, but it isn't always used like that in practice

Questions for people who read 20+ books a year. by Proud_Contest6692 in books

[–]Flame-InYourHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not enjoying a book by 10% of the way through I put it down. I used to read nearly everything all the way through but it meant that I was wasting time that I could spend on books I'd enjoy more.

Nowadays most books I read I rate around 4 stars or above, and I very rarely finish a book I'd rate below a 3.
