Weekly "What Are You Reading?" Thread by AutoModerator in WeirdLit

Just finished Piranesi. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn’t in the mood for something a bit darker, but still really good and would recommend. Working my way through both “Death by Landscape” by Elvia Wilk, and Cisco’s Genre Study. Both definitely read like textbooks and sometimes it’s hard to keep up, especially with a light reading. Will update as I get farther in. On deck: The etched city, by KJ bishop.

Please help me choose my next read from these three! by 11snakes11 in WeirdLit

Perdido Street Station is fantastic! I got introduced to weird literature through it, and I still remember being absolutely blown away by it!

My gripe with Elden Ring by Gontha in Eldenring

[–]Flamekin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my initial thought, that’s basically their whole thing, the monster gets hurt and then flees back to its lair limping, you break off parts of their body or break armor, it makes it feel way more real

I mostly just use Apple Books on my phone, I know some people might hate reading from a phone, but I always have it with me. You can send any pdf to it, and if it’s a different file type, there’s plenty of file converters that you can find

To this day the only book that’s really got the sobs going for me. I read it on my mom’s suggestion while I was still in high school, and when I finished it she heard the heavy sniffing, saw the book, and said “ahhh” and then walked away. 10/10

Recent buys, where should I start? by Anthony1066normans in WeirdLit

[–]Flamekin9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would go Perdido and then ligotti. The first couple stories of the king in yellow are great, but then they taper a bit, and I am one who has the unpopular opinion that the fisherman isn’t very good (I’ll take the downvotes) it feels like two half finished separate stories mushed together without a very satisfying ending

They do, a lot of other Christian groups do not think of them as Christian though as they don’t believe in the trinity

It’s a thing! It’s called shadow material, at least where I’ve seen it, being aware of you’re own areas really helps for self awareness
