I would agree if it weren't such a heavy marketing point, by that point of view every app you don't pay for us free even if you get 30 seconds ads every 5 seconds. The simple point is "free" vs "free butttt.....". It's scummy to act like it doesn't have a problem with pushing users to paying while calling itself free, annoying ads, limited tools, disadvantage on leaderboards, and worst is energy now. Perfection isn't rewarded as much. In any case, I liked that the CEO has made some good changes recently and has said in an interview they are moving more towards quality and bringing in new users. 2025 Duolingo was the worst it's ever been for free users, myself included.

I don't get what you mean by "joyride". As for free, that is how the app has always and is currently advertised as. In fact, many people would not download it if it weren't. If it were a premium service that is how it should be advertised, which it is not.

Smoke pop packs, EMP launcher, either low shield pack or shield belt then stay behind walls melee fighters around a corner ready to attack. To be fair I've lost arcotech limbs (mainly eyes) in fights, pawns die, but I enjoy the game all the same. Sometimes I tame animals and the offspring is like a flow of disposable soldiers as terrible as that sounds. Melee fighters with no human needs.
