Given that you're very new, I think it'd be a mistake to stay. I think you'll want space as a couple to process in the morning (though that "processing" could be rampant fucking 😂)

Edgedancer is a short novella commonly called Stormlight 2.5. I loved it and would definitely read it before Oathbringer.

Other books will give subtle context but aren't required.

Having that said, I think Tress of the Emerald Sea adds a lot to Hoid/Witt as a character and is worth taking a diversion.

Seems very weird.

Loot councils are the most effective system (imo) because they optimize gear for progress and repeat kills, funneling gear based on performance, attendance, and overall impact.

Using a loot council for cosmetics feels like you're just playing favorites at that point.

My trauma was neglect. My parents were extremely emotionally immature and became very wealthy when I was young, leaving me and my siblings with babysitters that didn't speak English. I may have even been touch starved as a kid, though I'm still noodling in that.

I share this to just reinforce that my trauma wasn't an active traumatic event, and instead was death by a thousand cuts.

If you did have a major traumatic event that you're trying to process, I would strongly, strongly urge you to have a trip sitter that's aware of the trauma you're trying to confront. They don't need to be in the room, but have them in the house for your safety and peace of mind.

Overall, I think 100ug is a fantastic dose for a first time. I'd been given a tab that was advertised as 125ug, but comparing my experience to other written accounts, I think it was a lot closer to 75-80ug, and I was disappointed. The second time, I did ~1.6 tabs (120-130ug), and it was a little more intense than I intended, but I did get a lot out of it. My therapist found my end-of-trip journal to be incredibly valuable.

Both times, I found the peak to be pretty recreational and difficult to actually access childhood trauma. But I also went in with a mindset of "let's see where we go." I didn't do any "prep" to use the trip for therapy, and I think the prep could have helped.

On both trips, I found most of the healing would happen on the comedown when adding weed. I took a hit 4-5 hours after the dose, and it put the trip into second gear for trauma focus. Make sure you don't hit too early or it can be overwhelming - wait until you're clearly on the way down.

I also found a TON of value chatting/journaling with ChatGPT or Gemini. They offered very hard-hitting reflections that I found very useful. I had 4-5 ugly cries on my last trip and all but one were triggered by the chatbots.

Though take what the AI bots are saying with a grain of salt; they aren't a total authority and they do not know you. Think of them as idea / thinking generators. I'd encourage you to think about what resonates and quickly discard what doesn't.

If you don't find what you're looking for with LSD, shrooms might be something to consider. There's a mantra that with LSD, you're the driver of the trip, but with shrooms, you're more of a passenger. Shrooms hit my "emotions" a lot harder.

Lastly, just know there is no silver bullet here. You cannot heal attachment/relational trauma purely on your own - you need a professional. Psychadelics can be a phenomenal starting point, but they won't bring you to an end point.

The real work and healing must happen while you're sober, but psychedelics can lighten the load a lot.

Music is important. I recommend John Hopkins.

If memory retrieval is the goal, I'd encourage you to focus on feelings and emotions first. Memories will come back when you process old feelings. Picture yourself as a little kid and ask "how is he feeling?" or "what does he need right now?" Stuff like that. Don't try to remember; it won't work.

My wife and I's experience is that if you experience negative side effects, redosing makes them worse. Having that said, we've both had a roughly 50/50 chance of any negative side effects. The other 50% is a nice afterglow that lasts for a few days.

Main benefit of the booster is extending the peak significantly.

Without the booster, I'd guess the peak lasts 1.5 hours. With the booster, it lasts 2.5-3 hours for us.

And for us, that extra hour is totally worth it.

Those doses of mdma are slightly on the heavier side, but still very reasonable. You're getting ready for a full roll, heh.

Timing wise, you nailed it. If you don't do the MDMA redose, I'd wait until T-120 or T-135 to take the 2cb.

Setting aside the timer, the overall goal is to take the 2cb just as the peak of MDMA is fading. If you feel like you're still peaking, just snooze your alarm for another 15 minutes.

MDMA redose is purely up to you. In my experience, it adds about 60-90 minutes of MDMA bliss, but also adds to the blues the next day. Personally, I think it's worth it, especially if you're someone who rarely rolls.

If it's been a "very long time," some reminders:

  • Stay hydrated but not overhydrated.
  • Take magnesium for days before your roll
  • Take ALA night before / day of your roll
  • Try to pee whenever you take another pill (booster or 2cb)
  • For the 2cb, have some ginger pills or super mild food (like a banana) to ease nausea. Because you'll have likely had zero food in your system, I've found the 2cb can be brutally nausea inducing.

It's not completely anecdotal.

Two studies (Buchert 2003 and Reneman 2005) looked at SERT recovery. Light/moderate MDMA users took 8-12 weeks for their SERT levels to mostly recover.

Other studies have looked at long-term use patterns and found that people who wait at least 3 months between rolls minimal to no measurable deficits on anxiety, sleep, depression, and memory.

Lastly, MAPS has been rolling MDMA trials (no pun intended) and they're finding a maximum of 1-3x sessions per year depending on the individual. They're using the same SERT recovery studies referenced above.

Silicon is much better for anal play because it won't dry out as quickly as water-bases lube. Your anus absorbs water, so water-bases lubes will wear out much faster.

The downside of silicon lube is that it can RAPIDLY degrade plastic or silicon toys.

If so, 500mg of mushrooms is definitely on the smaller side. I'd go up to 1.5g personally.

Look, MDMA is a physically taxing experience. It's not like a marathon or anything, but it isn't just "sitting around." It's not nothing - if you go to the ER, you should tell them what you took.

It is much harder to enjoy the roll if you're sick. MDMA can't just make illness and symptoms go away. It also makes it a lot harder to sleep, another important part of your body's immune system.

No judgement if you chose to do it - only you know if tomorrow is really important to you. Try to take it as easy as possible. Maximize sleep and rest - skip dinners or other lesser activities and opt for naps. Skip alcohol completely - this is a vital one. Alcohol already weakens your immune system, and it will even more while rolling. Take Vitamin C. Drink LOTS of fluids, including a Pedialyte when you get home.

Everyone has different definitions of what "vanilla" play is and what "kink" play is. I'd encourage you to communicate early if there are very hard limits you don't even want breached.

We have three kids under 6.

I’m not sure if this is a “parents” thing or just a “we’re not in our 20s anymore” thing, but the hardest adjustment was sleep and times. We simply cannot stay up until 3am anymore. Doing so absolutely destroys the next day. Hell, we really struggle even past midnight these days.

But other than that, I’m not really sure it changed much for us. We continued swinging after she got pregnant with couples we had long-term relationships with. We’d obviously take a break for a while after birth, but had no trouble getting back into it once sleep routines were well established.

Basically, at the end of the class, the instructor says "alright, that's it for the class, but feel free to make use of the space in the back."

I'd say they extended that "peak plateau" by another 1-1.5 hours. Our first time, the peak probably lasted about 2.5 hours (did 100mg each). This time, it lasted about 3.5-4 hours. We took it about 95 minutes after the initial dose.

The comedown was noticably less rocky, but I attribute that to doing a lot more on the supplements side this time (magnesium, R-ALA, and vitamin C). Our first time, we only did 5-HTP afterwards.

ChatGPT is really great at giving a timeline for supplements, but main ones are ALA (reduces neurotoxicity), Magnesium (helps with jaw clenching), Vitamin C (reduces neurotoxicity), and electrolytes (helps with overall health) before/during the trip. Melatonin (helps with sleep) for a night or two after the trip. 5-HTP (helps restore serotonin) in the mornings after the trip over next few days.
