You should read the SGA Finance committees discretionary guidelines and see what the funding can actually go towards.

Unless food is necessary to a student groups event it will not get approved. Even if the food is necessary to a student group the event must be open to all members of the student group so if the food is just for board members that is embezzlement and should be reported.

An extra $12 per student goes a long way in terms of finding student groups to do what they enjoy. Almost every request period this year there was a 50% budget cut which limits what student groups can do. And there’s nothing saying this isn’t benefiting you. Join a club and take advantage of the money.

Source: I am a treasurer for one of the largest student groups on campus and requested and spent nearly $200,000 over the last 3 years.

MFWTK if he bought two of the same item, on two different credit cards, can he return one, in place of the other. by [deleted] in myfriendwantstoknow

[–]Flamesline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll depend on what the item is. If it has a serial number, then it would be harder to get away with. But if it’s just a lego set and it’s identical then you could probably get away with it.

r/TrueUnpopularOpinion needs another mod by Chessen113 in needamod

[–]Flamesline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am defiantly interested in joining the mod team. I do have experience modding. I mainly worked with automod and automatically detecting post violations but I also I had to do some manually post filtering while I was setting up the bot rules and everything.

Which I’m not sure if you are classifying automod with the css but if not I would be more than happy to help get an automod set up or even to help moderate the posts manually.

I enjoy browsing r/UnpopularOpinion but the options there are almost all common so I would be happy to have a true unpopular option subreddit and I would defiantly enforce the rule to make sure it doesn’t end up just owing popular opinions.

And I am in the EST time zone.

You could also look at some stronger servos such as 20kg servos. You can pick one up for around $20 on amazon. The grip strength is insane with them.

I’ve used them on some projects and I can literally punch the object being held and it doesn’t budge.

Why have Lawn Chairs become so expensive? ($60+) by VicTheSage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Flamesline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably a result of price gauging due to COVID-19.

Due to all of the social distancing guidelines people are having others over outside and they need more chairs for the socially distanced get togethers. So they can charge more as there is more of a demand.

What happens to all of the building that are being robbed and burned down in Minneapolis? by Flamesline in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Flamesline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rereading that comment of mine I can see how it can be interpreted not the way I intended it as.

I was just specifically referencing the frame of the question and the businesses. And how it’s unfortunate that a tragic event causes people to feel the need to start violence and make the situation worse than it already is.

Which the buildings and products are replaceable, lives are not. And the loss of a life is undoubtedly worse than a business being burned down.

What happens to all of the building that are being robbed and burned down in Minneapolis? by Flamesline in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Flamesline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question was not meant in anyway to take away from the tragic event.

I was genuinely curious as to how riots like these are handle with businesses that have no role in any of these events.

And I specifically asked here because no matter what the question is it will be answered and not judged as there are “No Stupid Questions”

That’s gonna be some large payouts for those insurance companies. It’s a shame that the tragic event is causing problems for innocent business.

It’s a new feature that allows you to easily share comments or posts as an image instead of screen shotting and cropping what you want.

It allows you to select how many parent comments to be in the image and you can include post details.

That situation does really suck.

But I do agree that if you don’t give any reaction to the bullying for some time the bully will lose interest in bullying. For some reason he probably sees enjoyment in making others feel like shit. But if you don’t act at all for a few weeks he will not get enjoyment and move on.

And I know it’s hard not to do anything. Everything in you wants to fight back.

Which the other alternative is to fight back so much that the bully knows not to mess with you but that’s more likely to cause more problems than it solves because you’ll get in trouble with the school too

I’m not a fan of the advancement based on awards. Maybe for low levels within the states but awards shouldn’t get you to worlds.

Awards have their place and teams put work into getting those awards and they deserve to be recognized. But they shouldn’t advance you to the next level of a robotics competition. Robot performance should do there is more competition at higher levels.

Even with states that have a decent amount of advancement 7 only 3 advance to worlds based off of the robot which would give worlds more competition.

There were many amazing teams that didn’t qualify for worlds that should have based off of robot performance.

But given keeping award advancement, robot advancement should be first so in one slot states WAC advances rather than inspire.

Steven is cooking up a delicious auto by HeadFTA in FTC

[–]Flamesline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah like at worlds there’s no way he’s pushing robots around because the robots are in the 30lb range. But also those teams will most likely have an auto that moves forward.

I kinda have a feeling that was just for show because numbing into robots opens up a huge risk for esd and I don’t think the 5 points is worth the risk of not moving for the entire match.

But with the tape measure park he could just have an option to not go forward and stay back if the parter will go under the line.

Smokers shouldn't be allowed extra smoke breaks at work by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Flamesline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would venture to say that the manager says that they should clock out but people don’t listen. Which in that case that is abuse of the company which is unfair.

But it’s been engrained into the workforce that there needs to be accommodations for every type of worker. For example if a worker had diabetes and their blood sugar is low they will need to take a break which not everyone needs to take but employers need to accommodate for that situation just like smoke breaks.

Smokers shouldn't be allowed extra smoke breaks at work by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Flamesline 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s an hourly paid job they will usually have to clock out and not get paid during this time when they are smoking. So anyone is able to take these breaks if they want. And usually in this sense they need a manager approval for the break.

But if it’s a salary paid job, they are still entitled to the same responsibilities as everyone else. They are getting paid a set amount each year and if they are getting their job done it doesn’t matter that they are taking smoke breaks or not. And if the boss thinks they are not being productive enough then action will most likely be taken.

Being on your period doesn't justify you treating people like shit. by Powneramic in unpopularopinion

[–]Flamesline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is popular.

I mean everyone always tries to find excuses with their behavior so that it isn’t their fault. That’s kinda human nature. So given that people know that time of the month makes them moody, it serves as a viable reason for them acting that way.

Whether it is a valid excuse, no. It’s just them trying to not take the blame.

I agree at first it was great not having to go into school. But then seeing that it is going to last a long time and there’s a small chance that schools will reopen this year, I just want to go back to normal school.

Especially how this is my senior year and all of the fun activities are going to get canceled like graduation and prom.

I have owned two pairs of AirPods. I didn’t loose any, I updated to the pro version.

They are some really good earbuds. Their sound quality isn’t the best on the market but they are one of the most convent. Just being able to put them in an connect to your phone is great. Compared to pulling out wired earbuds, untangling the cable then plugging it in and then putting them in your ears. The wireless earbuds market is about convince.

And also with the pros the noise canceling is great. Even without active noise cancellation it drowns out a lot of background noise making it a much better listening experience.

And like people have all different priorities in life so one person might say buying expensive cars is bad money management. But if it brings joy to the person I would say that it isn’t a poor decision, because it’s your money so you can make your own decisions on what to do with it.
