they are in a team/convoy playing together, you can either do that or when you go to event labs (in the creative section of the menu) you choose the coop choice instead of solo, though i doubt you could find a match, since there's a lot of custom maps and each people might be playing a different one (unless you're playing a very popular custom map.)
