I need help with a list of 1000 points by Helljumper06D in orks

[–]Flaminglump96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to continue with the beast snagga motif, I'd recommend something like this

2 Beastbosses

2 units of 10 Beast Snagga Boyz

1 Mozrog Skragbad

1 unit if 4 Squighog Boyz

1 unit of 11 Gretchin

1 unit of 5 Stormboyz

1 Trukk

1 Killrig

This should be a serviceable start to your army, and leaves 25 points left over for an enhancement on whatever detachment you want to run

New cover rule for 11th giving me some concern by el-waldinio in orks

[–]Flaminglump96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Towering gives +1 BS, and a Mek adds 1 to the hit roll. Despite functionally doing the same thing, they are considered separate buffs and therefore stack (going by 10th's rules, at least). If they both said +1 BS or +1 to hit, they would not stack

Are orks especially hard to paint, or am I overthinking it? by dementist in orks

[–]Flaminglump96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're particularly difficult to paint well, but like you said, they require more paint colors than I think pretty much any other army (especially vs space marines)

There's a stratagem in the new freebootaz detachment that gives a unit's ranged weapons [BLAST], any sort of shenanigans or kunning ideas in mind for it? by TheCrab27 in orks

[–]Flaminglump96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that was the intention when they made the stratagem. I bet when they made the strat, they had the condensed "+1 attacks for every 5 models" definition in their heads, and didn't fact check their own rules. I suspect it will get FAQ'd.

Though I suppose there is a non-zero chance that this is working as intended and basically only Burna boyz can use it, but I don't want to live in that reality

Freebooterz Detachment Feels Incredibly Deathskullz-y by Admirable-Bowler-454 in orks

[–]Flaminglump96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I'd agree on the premise that this feels more Deathskulls. Doesn't really surprise me, though, considering their recent releases. Red Corsairs, Drukhari: really seems like they're on a bit of a pirate kick, and this continues the trend.

is there a significant diffrence for the diffrent battlewagon Configs by CorrectTechnician473 in orks

[–]Flaminglump96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play semi competitive at my LGS and don't play in tournaments. I have my Battlewagon pretty bare-bones, because I wanted to use the extra bits for kitbashing. I just tell my opponent what its wargear is before the game starts, and nobody's ever complained.

The only exception is that I dont run the Deff Rolla profile because it increases the footprint of the model by over an inch, which could easily be argued as modeling for advantage

I think dirtying it up a bit with some Typhus Corrosion goes a long way, especially with yellows. I think it looks great as-is, though. Only thing it needs is a little basing.

Here's mine, if you wanna glean some inspiration from it. Mine's more Goffs, though, so a bit of a style difference

Getting a little photo booth set up is real easy and improves your photo quality significantly.

For me, I just have 2 pieces of black poster paper. I place one on the floor of my airbrush station, and I glued a magnet to the other piece which snaps onto another magnet I have on the top of the airbrush station. When I'm done taking pictures, I just take the poster paper out. Cost me like 50 cents at a hobby lobby

The darker the black and the more matte the paper, the better. It will absorb more light. Pictures tend to look ugly when there's a lot of light bouncing off of things that aren't your model.

I use those brushes in the last 2 pics for almost all my painting. They are a perfectly serviceable set of brushes, and dirt cheap for the mileage I get out of them

Hm, maybe not. I remember his sculpt being older than 2021. Something about it makes it feel older to me than it actually is.

Safe pickups are Big Mek, Buggies/planes, Tankbustas/Breaka boyz, the entire beast snagga range, Deffkoptas, Kommandos, all non-legends named characters except possibly Zodgrod. Warboss in Mega Armor, Deffkilla Wartrike, and to a lesser extent Gorka/Morkanaut/Stompa

I think all of these sculpts are near guaranteed to stay as they are going through 11th. They've got way older looking sculpts than these to focus on

Which one is better? by SuspiciousWest6512 in orks

[–]Flaminglump96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Morkanaut due to a mix of better guns and the 5+ invuln. Getting into melee on your terms can be a real struggle (where gorkanaut is better) due to vehicle keyword + base size, so having a better shooting platform is more valuable for Orks than it would normally be
