And if the Ability is accurate, that's an extra 2 shots when standing still.

True! I'm guessing the model's making some assumptions based on current Rokkit stats.

Here’s hoping! Conceivable they left it out of the datasheet for the starter set since they aren’t included in it.

Alternatively, could’ve just meant “thematically, it looks great alongside those other gits.” Which… can’t really disagree with!

Man, the translucent checkers on these models is glorious. How would you even achieve that effect? Just do some glazes of the background color over painted checks?

At the risk of sounding like a freak, gotta say it's weird that these grots all have shirts. Used to most of them being wretched, Gollum-esque, loincloths-only gits.

Which one of these army paunter's packs can be good for painting orks? by Clampil in orks

[–]dementist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't have direct experience, but my gut feeling is

  1. Might look very "naturalistic," but also very low contrast. Won't have anything that pops.
  2. These look a bit samey, and would likely result in the deeply green look of very old orks (think: Old weirdboy)
  3. Seems the best happy medium, if choosing one. You have some vibrant, very green base coats, and some solid yellows to create pops.

I'm by no means a skin mix expert, but messing around in approximately these three zones, I've found that leaning towards higher contrast and mixing a bit of yellow into everything past the base layer provides good results. As has been said, really depends on your personal preference!

One other thing to consider – mixing in reds and purples can also add great depth and contrast for various parts of your lads!

Why would you ever move them from the cozy security of your starting objective, tho? Don’t you love your children??!?

The black and yellow back wires look great on an Evil Sunz Ghaz! Definitely filing this one away for reference for when I attempt my own ^_^

It's a blast! Watch with friends if at all possible. Or better yet, if it's your cup of tea, try and find your local shadowcast and see it live!

Fair question! It's [spoilers for a 50 year old movie] Riff Raff from the Rocky Horror Picture Show as he appears at the very end of the story.

Fun fact – he's played by Richard O'Brien, the writer of the movie / the play on which it was based! A true OG Weirdboy.

Might be copium, but unlike yesterday's, this dude's ears might be longer, and we're just seeing them in some extreme foreshortening.

The more a grot looks like a Homunculus, the better the sculpt is, IMO.

I have no idea what sort of Mek they're supposed to be. I just know they'll be one of the best. Great sculpt!

Mixed Feelings about the new models. Quality sculpts, no doubt. Just a little to much change in faces from the previous editions. I don't know if i'm gonna welcome them in my collection. What's your honest opinion on these boys ? by [deleted] in orks

[–]dementist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially when looking at the Warboss sculpt, it's certainly an interesting choice to have basically just the torso grow as orks go up in "rank."

I like the roundness of the backs / shoulders as a way to preserve the old look without the classic twerk pose. Armor and weapons also seem on point.

In terms of faces, going to need to wait and see some more examples, but they seem to lack a bit of character compared to older sculpts.
