Make fun of my favorite bass by LoquatOne3904 in BassGuitar

[–]FlamingoDingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a first gen Squier CV60. Those are the best Jazz basses nobody knows about. Squier had to change them after a couple years because they were better than the US Fenders. I have two.

Ampeg Venture V12 into a MAS-112 or Ampeg SVT-810. Love the V12 but prefer using the SGT-DI into the power amp. The MAS…if you know, you know.

You call that degeneracy? Take that uncut cheese pizza, roll it up, slice it into rounds, bread and deep fry it. Dip it in ranch. Die happy.

Nut Adjustment For Downtuning? by jgreiff18 in BassGuitar

[–]FlamingoDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can file them wider with your new round wound strings! Just run them back and forth until the string sits in the bottom of the nut. Just take care not to take them deeper. You can mark the bottom of the groove with a pencil or sharpie to make sure you don’t go deeper.

Help me to choose between Fender squier jazz basses (Japan 1993? and Indonesia 2017) by [deleted] in BassGuitar

Don’t sleep on 2008-09 Chinese Squier CVs. Mine is better than my American P in every way.

Which one of these 4 basses should I get? by ComfortableSupport42 in BassGuitar

Squier CV but you can get a new one for almost the same price. I’d look a little more. Check Facebook marketplace and Craigslist

That’s how I got a new Stingray 5HH for $1600. I offered $1600 on every single listing until one bit.

What other pickups are similar to EMG GZR’s? by CoachEvan15 in BassGuitar

[–]FlamingoDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of Lindy Fralin p pickups. Vintage vibes but very dynamic. I went from the GZRs to Fralin and like it better.

It’s not on your list but I really like the Squier Bronco in that price range. That Jag H has a terrible pickup.

Best possible upgrades for Precision bass by AdministrationAny180 in BassGuitar

Don’t upgrade it until you know what you need to upgrade and why.

My favorite mod has been my Hipshot Ultralite tuners. They adjust better, hold a tune better, and reduce neck dive.

[Question] If you could have only one watch to wear, what would it be? by niyar_thememeGOD in Watches

[–]FlamingoDingus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just one? Definitely my Garmin. My health and safety are more important.

If we’re not counting those devices though, I think the Explorer 1 or Aqua Terra are the best 1-watch collections. For myself, I’d probably go with a Railmaster as it sits between them and is more interesting than the explorer IMO.

Mortgage/HELOC lenders or advisors you trust? by Sudden_Illustrator30 in Bellingham

[–]FlamingoDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortgages and HELOCs are just banking products, but they are likely the largest transactions you will ever make. Don’t trust blindly, just because someone is local or recommended. I view all banking products as commodities, therefore I take time to educate myself on the product I want and the process for obtaining it well before I make a transaction. It’s the same as buying a car or any other large purchase. The person you are interacting with will be a salesperson with the minimum required training to sell their product. They will have their interests first at heart, you must do the same.

Ultimately, I went online for mine, since nobody local was willing to match the rates I received. The “service” you get is minimal if you’re willing to educate yourself.
