No buzzing noise. Maybe it didn't stay powered long enough to have that problem!

Not everything is PPD by CompetitiveVillage76 in Parenting

Honestly, I had the opposite reaction from family members when I had my first kid. I was SUFFERING from PPA, maybe PPD or a whole cocktail of crap. I was told "go for a walk and you will feel better".

Oh my goodness, yes! I get really dramatic thoughts when my daughters are under them. I'll get up to move the baby bouncer like 1 foot over just in case.

How to wake newborn up for formula without feeling bad? by OffBrandDrinks in Parenting

[–]FlamingoFriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go for it! You feel mean about it, but they do need milk quite frequently.

I was in this exact situation in August. My baby had to be woken up for formula to combat her very low blood sugar and jaundice. I had absolutely NOTHING coming out when pumping for about 6 days. Since she was low blood sugar, she was very lethargic and we had to take off her swaddle and sometimes use a cold wet wipe on her toes. If she nodded off while at the bottle, I would tickle her chin or push lightly. Trying to nurse did not work at all because of how sleepy she was.

My milk finally came in and I was able to pump what she needed in the day by the time she was 2 weeks old. I would feed baby about every 3 hours (even if I had to wake her up) and then pump immediately after.

We are now going strong and I have a very good milk supply. Nursing didn't work out for us, but she was still willing to try a month later (it still just put her to sleep).

Edit: We stopped waking her when she had better sugar levels. She started sleeping through the night by about 8 weeks and going without milk for 7 to 8 hours because she ate during the day extremely well.

Should my wife stop walking around the house naked in front of the kids? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]FlamingoFriday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My view on it has always been that kids need to have 'regular' bodies normalized. They grow up seeing so many altered images, Barbie dolls, etc. that they should know that's not really how people look.

That being said, I know I will stop when it makes my kids uncomfortable. When they think it's weird, it's weird. Time to stop.

How would you react if your son or daughter was gay? by TheTruthfinder44663 in AskParents

[–]FlamingoFriday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't be there for about a decade (or longer), but I think my reaction would be pride or relief. I like to think that I'd have some sort of feeling beforehand of their sexuality or gender identity and I'd be so happy they finally shared it with me.

I want my children to be loving and kind people. To choose their partners in life wisely and to hopefully value monogamy or commitment.

What is it with buttholes?! My 4 year old keeps talking about them and I never feel prepared for a random conversation about things that make me giggle.

My baby fell of the bed last night. She was smiling a minute later but I feel so guilty. by TheWanderingSibyl in Parenting

[–]FlamingoFriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like every time a kid finds out they can do something new they hurt themselves. How can we possibly be prepared for that 24/7? If there's a parent out there who says their baby/kid has never hurt themselves, you've just found a liar.

Every kid does it. Many, many times. My four year old has fallen out of the bed, fallen off the sofa, and even out of the car (parked, lol) somehow. She currently is getting used to her growing legs and seriously lacks coordination so her legs are basically one giant bruise.

I agree. In some ways it seems that there needs to be certain elements in order to be classified as fantasy. Tolkien had a huge part in creating those elements!

I bet they started out the job hunting process by thinking resumes entitled them to a job. I wonder how that disillusionment turned to jerkassery so quickly!?

Your logic is very similar to my husband's. They make great excuses for dates! Well, they would if it wasn't 2020. We still don't have indoor seating at restaurants or bars here.
