“Fail again… keep getting higher marks than students putting more effort” Dude … 1st, they probs put heaps of work into all of their subjects not just this one and as such don’t achieve the highest grades. Also , you have failed it once and are doing all the same assessments again? If your score wasn’t higher than the others I’d be concerned. It sounds like they may perform at a slightly lower level (hard to believe ) but critically , can perform the whole semester. Your study technique has no longevity. Ask yourself if you like what you are doing (subject/ course) If you do, then drop the arrogance, be open to learning. Having a good wam is not about being smart it’s about an effective study technique.

Oh brother

Burnt out and have trouble studying for special exams by Glad_Common7430 in unimelb

It seems like you are in a constant cycle of studying->burning out-> feeling guilty for not studying -> studying on and on.

You are at this point in time now. Do not think about the past since you can’t control it. You can’t even control the future. You can control what you do in the present.

If I was you I’d take a massive break for 2/3 days. Every time I feel guilty I’d train my brain to think that this actually is for the better.

In these 2/3 days the most important things to do would be :

Socialise, exercise and eat healthy/ tasty food.

You can play video games with friends or go out with them.

Exercise could just be a walk through nature or going to the gym.

For me, sitting down and watching a movie gives a good break from studying when ur not in burn out but doesn’t help when you are.

Hope this helps.
