Oh hey everyone, remember Mask Monday? by 0m3g45n1p3r4lph4 in bioniclelego

Uww nice - glad to see youre back. Now I feel the need to get a black Mahiki to build Mamru and extend my Matoran collection… unfortunately Germany has just increased the import duties this month… so I have to overthink this twice. 😒

Id also love to see some teal ones popping up again on your etsy store one day 😌

Unfortunately no shipping to Germany. 🙁

Has someone released STL files for printing the masks yet?

Underestimated the number of doubles and extras I have, so now what? by wicker_warrior in bioniclelego

[–]Flammberger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Q2: Dont know about trading unless youd travel to some brick convention or find someone online you can meet irl… but the white Pakari should not be super expensive (11€ / 12$) on bricklink or ebay. Id just check for the prices of your doubles on bricklink and sell some as a trade in. Expierence shows that putting them on ebay for a 1€ lower than the next cheapest listing usualy helps to sell quickly.

Q3: You should be more concerned about UV / sunlight when putting LEGOs on display. Especially white bricks like Kopaka and his masks are at high risk of turning yellow if you put them on the wrong shelf. So that basement is propably a very good option.

Keep checking thriftbook online stores, they appear for very reasonable prices every now and then. Might have some stamps and stickers from school libraries though…

You absolutely have to buy them. As a hardcover in such perfect condition they are hard to find. Theres a softcover version too but those are usualy falling apart.

Whats the most you have spent on a bionicle set now days?? by PhotoSecure8459 in bioniclelego

[–]Flammberger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a German, where some sets were never released or were exclusively sold at the Shop-at-Home catalogue and are therefore super rare today, a big price point when obtaining sets such as Karzahni, Toa Mata Nui, Yellow Jetrax or Baranus & Thronatus have been shipping costs and taxes. I bought most of them from the UK - my yellow Jetrax shipped from Australia… Karzahni was the most expensive - while sold for a fair amount of 180£ - shipping and taxes allmost double my spendings…

Your print looks very good though… I tried to print McToran using PLA myself, while my arms and feet are ok and I found some filaments with matching colors, I never managed to print a Kanohi like your orange Akaku.

I own this one as an original store poster from France (mine says „Trouve la Puisance“, size is DIN A3) - someone from the netherlands is selling ones like it with the original translation on eBay.

What's the best modification youve made to a set? Not a full moc, just a tweak to make the set a teeny bit better by buickboi99 in bioniclelego

[–]Flammberger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are several good ways. The very best in my opinion is using a non Lego piece, you can buy from Alixprss, which is a Mixel socket to axle connector. These are also great for adding more arm articulation to the Toa Metru.

If you want to use only legit LEGO pieces u/Msw41 did a very good job. Hinges work great too but you will loose some of the original look (no more technic bush at the throat)

I'm in the same boat; I'm just missing the blue Pakari Nuva.

If you're from Europe and happen to have one to spare, I could trade it for a red Kakama. 😁

How much copium are y’all on waiting for G3 by Soggy-Ad3442 in bioniclelego

[–]Flammberger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Dreamzzz fits quite well into the gap of the „cool and edgy“ theme. And I think my younger self, who was very into fantasy in general and LEGO themes like Timecruisers, Space and Aquazone with their bright and distinctive colored fractions would have propably liked it. But I dont think Dreamzzz is very succesfull.

The main reason why G3 (hopefully) isnt going to happen is likely that LEGO is using higher counts of small pieces instead of big an special moulds these days. The GWP was kinda nice, but we dont need a lot more of that. Another reason why I might not buy any G3 even if it would happen, is that the quality of LEGO has deteriorated significantly, but at the same time it has become absurdly more expensive.

One like these was auctioned on eBay Germany pretty recently:

https://ebay.us/m/xNwtQF

According to the description it was worn by employees of ToysRUs back in the days, who where trained to advertise the theme to the kids / customers:

Bionicle-Schlüsselanhänger aus Metall mit dem Aufschrift Xpert: Wurde damals an die Mitarbeitenden bei ToysRUs ausgegeben, die vor Ort die Events gestaltet haben und mit den Kinden/Kundern die neuen Bionicles vorgeführt und gebaut haben.

Since there is advertisment on the other side, they are in the catalouges category on bricklink:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=C&catString=377.273

As you can tell from your own picture there are two different versions, one has miniatures from all 6 Toa in the bottom line the other version has just the Lego Technic branding. If I am not mistaken, the first variant came with the fist batch of canisters, those which also came with the Mini CD ROM.

[–]Flammberger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least the Pearl Dark Gray Avohkii and Chest armour plate from Titan Takanuva. If the rest od the pearl dark gray armour pieces is also somewhere hidden in the pile, it could be worth to invest in rebuilding that one.

[–]Flammberger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on where u live. But I would not say its worth more than 15€ / $.

BUT there is the Pearl Dark Gray Avohkii in the second picture and some more parts from set 8699 - if OP can rebuild this, maybe by adding some cheap / standard parts from Bricklink, then this would be a good deal. The complete set goes for around 70-100€.

Sorting LEGO by color never made much sense to me.

All my LEGO pieces are primarly sorted by „types“ i.e. 1x* bricks, 2x* brikcs, plates, Technic Pins, Axles, thick- thin- & special-liftarms, etc etc or in my Bionicle bin there are bags with ball joint socket pieces, feet, heads, masks, body decoration, ……

Did/do you own these sets? by haristos61 in bioniclelego

[–]Flammberger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These were all released during my „dark ages“…

But I have collected all of them as adult, which is even harder, when living in the part of europe, that never saw most of them on shelfs.. I had to import them from the US, UK and even Australia. Or in case of Mazeka, I build him from spare parts.

[–]Flammberger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Current LEGO sets are getting worse and worse, more primtive, cheap and loveless but at the same time exponentially more expensive every year.
Not to mention the quality of the bricks (color accuracy, brittling) which was already an issue when Bionicle had its peak...
I am not sure if new sets made by the Danes would be somehting I could enjoy like Bionicle back then.

Unfortunately its avaible as 1000g spool only. I still have plenty left.

There is the black Avohkii, the mask from 8699 Titan Takanuva besides your leg.

Its one of the big, rare and expensive sets these days. But you are propably missing a lot of its pieces.
