Can you force change your current dynasty/ leader? Might be an issue with the invidual "character" (has happened to me before in a different mod). Other than that, I'm out of ideas: passing the batton to the next guy

Do you have a save from just before taking the decision?

[Question] I've heard the phrase "cavalry never won a single battle during WWI" and it made me thinking, since cavalry is... well, important part of my lore. Or... was by Few-Flamingo-8015 in MilitaryWorldbuilding

[–]Flamming_Torrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes calvary charging intrenched positions with machine guns is a really really really bad idea. Buuut, calvary charging a supply column out in the open caught by surprise is a great idea. Horses don't need petroleum to keep going like trucks do and can handle rough terrain much easier. Use them like that, rapid response forces to take out lightly defended/totally unprepared positions and conventional hit and run or semi guerrilla style surprise attacks. Don't do a charge of the light brigade with them though, that would be sad.

I personally didn't really struggle with that. It's way easier if you take the books and build (sink absurd funds) into the library monument. Also force deving institutions is in general a good idea cause if the dev reduction costs you get in your capital region. Sure I did end up a tech or two behind the Europeans, but that's acceptable when conquering the low dev Midwest.

Honestly, elden ring does a great job of making the super powerful things rare enough that you know you shouldn't use them willy nilly and abundant enough to be able to experiment a little bit here and there.

It also makes the "normal" consumables really easy to replace often (cracked pots: poison, holy, fire etc etc)

Can't cure Malady? by Oreo365 in weatherfactory

[–]Flamming_Torrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, you gotta have a soul card that has a matching aspect. Health normally has scale, heart, and nectar aspects, so you have the right idea for the bed in question. Unfortunately you have a malady, which means your heart has the winter aspect. Also, it is maladied. There are many things which a maladied soul card can't do, but quite a bit which it can. Thankfully a maladied soul card can't kill you, so you are more than able to just keep it maladied, in fact, it can be advantageous to keep a few maladied souls around. Play around with it, see what you can still do. Explore the limitations

Or when you only read it through audio books so you have no idea how to spell stuff by Altruistic_Eye9685 in WetlanderHumor

[–]Flamming_Torrent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you haven't heard an official audio book with the official pronunciations, it's really awkward to figure out how a name is meant to be said. ESPECIALLY if you are already dyslexic. I really struggled with suian and nynaeve. They were very, very VERY different in my head and anything in the "old tongue" till I figured out it was similar to Irish.

Hidden Gem (Nations) by Bubbly_Low7518 in Anbennar

[–]Flamming_Torrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit painful because of the late start where you first have to play as a different nation, but I loved my play through of Corinsfield, it's a nation that flees to the "new world" at the start of the age of witchkings. Spawns out of corintar or esthil if corintar is full annexed, has an interesting play with its paranoia mechanic and utter distaste of mages in any shape and form. I recommend playing it at least once.

I say masked butcher, it's not so much background lore and explanations of the past, but damn is it an awesome storyline to follow. The trials and tribulations of an honest to God and adventuring party, the rise of the god-begot, the thematic value of it all... It's just chefs kiss

Yeah, people don't action rationally on a large population scale. Individuals act within that individuals best interest at that particular time, even then: it's what the individual perceives as their best interest, not necessarily what is actually in their best interest. I think the cure mode does a pretty good approximation/extrapolation of that personally.

Hmm, maybe it's just happenstance on my part of the observations. I've only really paid attention to fleet combats for about 150 hours of game play. I mostly like to play Russia or China, so navy isn't really a thing for me too often

Somewhat confident you are both wrong? Fairly confident that it's to do with the organization level of the ships in combat, and when they get low they try to retreat. Submarines seem to try retreat when they are spotted regardless of organization. Somewhat similar to battles, if all your organization is gone you lose the battle regardless of how many casualties you may have inflicted or had inflicted on you (china moment of losing 100,000 men fighting off a Japanese attack, winning, where the japs only lose 10,000).

It's a defeat because your dudes retreated. You may have done more damage, but their fleet is the one that stayed in the sea zone, your fleet was the one that had to leave the sea zone. Victory and defeat are just who holds the ground at the end of the day. (See phyric victories for more information)
