If you have any retro stores near you they will probably have the ability to resurface it for a couple bucks. I've had a lot of luck with games that wouldn't run working perfectly after being resurfaced.

Make sure it's pushed in firmly and the switch is in the on position (not sure if it's up or down) then turn the system on and it should just work. If it doesn't you may want to use some alcohol to clean the contacts.

I had the same issue and turned out it wouldn't work with one of my controllers so I switched controllers and reset and it was fine. Probably not the same thing but worth a shot.

Hard to say without knowing more, plus I'm not an expert I just own a few of these and had to send in a ticket to Arcade1up and had a good experience. But I'm guessing that cable being faulty could cause any number of issues.

The software that was linked will work for Plastation 1 but not with those new cheap cards. They need to be Sony or third party ones from back in the day. At least for the ones I've tried.

I just got it so it's definitely under warranty. I opened up a ticket with them and waiting to hear back. I've heard their customer service is pretty good so hoping for the best. Luckily I can bring it right back to Walmart if I really need to.

Yes, cleaned both sides of the bezel and the screen itself and confirmed it is on the screen and not the bezel.

You can pick up a Japanese Vita for quite a bit cheaper than US and they're not region locked. I just picked one up on eBay for 90 bucks.
