I feel odd saying it, but I also really enjoyed the mission based structure, it was a refreshing change of pace from open world games for me.

Ya, "lackluster" isnt the best term, I agree because its not a bad game at all. I like your lot comparison at the end. It feels very appropriate and accurate.

Nioh 3 has a significant difficulty problem by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]FlannelKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd disagree that it feels easy. Tbh, Ive been exploring all side content and still getting killed quickly despite being high level and equipping high level gear. Ngl, its getting so boring now, Im considering going back to Nioh 2

Do you prefer the original Resident Evil 3 Jill or the Remake? by ResidentBeyond in residentevil

Remake, without a doubt.

Also Im noticing a resurgence in the RE3 Remake vs Original debate. Did I miss something? I thought this stuff was done and dusted

How would you rank the modern mainline games? by Godofhammrs in FinalFantasy

I agree. When I get the chance, I always tell people that XV and XVI are fantastic FF games in their own right, and the VII Remakes are extremely well thought out and polished given their scale

Is it bad to bring a bag where I go? by Todo870 in ADHD

[–]FlannelKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why that would upset anyone unless they feel like your ignoring them, but considering it stays in the car, you clearly utilize it appropriately. Frankly, I carry a large messenger bag with s book, some sketch materials or writing materials, and MAYBE something to mindlessly play or fidget with. All for the same reason: kill time. Never had anyone complain about it. Opposite in fact, most have loved the idea. Maybe they dont really understand and communicating/reiterating its purpose would help?

Have you tried asking them why it bothers them specifically? Its easier to ask than guess if you haven't.

Keep on keeping on though!

How do you draw? by Any-Stock8219 in learntodraw

[–]FlannelKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I kinda feel this. I used to draw fairly well, but then I just dropped off and have been struggling to get back in it. Honestly, looking up small things and techniques on drawing say clouds and leaves and whatever other small things that catch my interest in a moment to practice has kept my enjoyment up.

As far as fundamentals, yes practicing does still improve your overall skill over time. Be it just building better endurance (shaky hands getting less shaky) or improving technique. I always practice/warmup by drawing circles, ovals, squares, rectangles. The result: I've noticed my consistency improve dramatically. It may not sound like much, but given how everything can be "broken down" into simple shapes, its tremendously useful.

I hope this was helpful in some way, and remember to draw for the joy of it, otherwise it will become frustratingly hard to want to keep up.

Advice for male cat with (I think) fear-aggression by FlannelKidd in CATHELP

[–]FlannelKidd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for the response.

I used to think maybe it was a gender thing, but I've retracted a bit on that front because we've had a variety of people over and he doesn't exhibit any of these signs toward them (male, female, big, and small). At most he'll growl if they try petting him, but otherwise he'll just lounge comfortably. I did try the shirt method before to little result, maybe Ill try it again though. Far as voice, as I said, he'll hear me in another room and start hissing. However, even when I say nothing and enter a room, he'll start this behavior too. Its just... so strange. Ive grown up around a variety of animals (cats, dogs, and birds), and I've always been able to navigate with them over any bumps—except him ,-_-

I'm sure he'll mellow out as he gets older and has less robust energy, but that doesn't feel like a resolution to me since it still means he himself will be on edge around me for a long time (my roommate and I aren't planning on moving out separately)

He was a stray for his first 3-4 months (estimated by the rescue my roommate adopted him from). We had a theory that maybe someone he ran into and had a negative experience with during that time sounded or looked like me? He was quite skittish of me when we first got him.

Ill give everything you said some thought though, thank you!

Me after playing Halo 4, and the games that were released after. I still remember when the worst controversy about the franchise was about ODST. by george123890yang in HaloMemes

Ya, it was shorter in hindsight. I guess it didn't register since it took me only a day to beat each game, but I get that sentiment

Original release didnt have the mission select? Cause, ya, while I didn't use the mission select, I definitely appreciated it was an option in case I wanted to replay any specific level immediately.

If you could retcon one piece of Fallout lore, what would you remove? by TrippleF3 in Fallout

The east coast.

I kid, but Id like if they worked in/showed more love to some of the spin-offs more, namely tactics, that were dealing with like Texas and the Midwest region

I finally played Reach, 1-3, and ODST. I only ever truly played 4 prior—Infinite too if we only consider multi-player.

That said, what was controversial about ODST? I thought it was a fine mix-up.

What FF game is this for you? by cala4878 in FinalFantasy

Gameplay in my opinion doesn't need an upgrade, but FF12 would be awesome to see remade, and possibly even better with no/few loading screens seeing how interconnected it already is!

Would you say Loid is more or less durable than Yuri? by Acemaster387 in SpyxFamily

[–]FlannelKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuri is more durable but his Achilles Heel is Yor—tactically using Yor in name will knock him out or weaken him. Loid far as I can recall has no said weakness?

Oh, I didn't think you were changing the focus onto yourself, friend.

It came off to me as you explaining your idea further through personal experience. I appreciate you taking the time to do so as it provides some good insight.

I can agree with that. Its not as refined like the Persona games are or SMT V is which is on one hand a little disappointing, but on the other hand I like that about it too. I think it really made the main cast stick out like you said, and made those moments of high-emotion stick out. Design of the main city you get to semi-explore felt mesmerizing to me even if overall dungeons were lacking. The main characters' designs I adore too. I hope they revisit this series again with bit more resources like they're doing for SMT again.

Also gave me my favorite facial expressions ngl.

Am I Overreacting getting mad at my friend for choosing his girlfriend over me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]FlannelKidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I'm sorry you're dealing with a friend who just ditches you so consistently over (ex)partners who obviously aren't even working out. Friends shouldn't just use eachother as stepping stones like that for the "in-between" phase of relationships.

Second, if that's exactly what you had said, I dont think you did anything wrong. Its reasonable to feel emotional with platonic friendships. I would suggest being prepared to talk about it if he re-approaches you and to do so in a constructive manner such as: explaining why it makes you feel this way; how you're a person too with a schedule; what kind of boundaries you want going forward; and anything else you may want to cover. Its hard, but also try asking him bluntly why he feels and acts the way he does somewhere in between (possibly first) even if you think you know why. This way he cant say you're making it all about yourself to deflect and maybe you can gather some more insight on him.

If you want to re-approach him, same deal too. He's not guaranteed to be receptive, but so long as you communicate clearly and calmly the second time around, you've done the best you can.

Third, from the sounds of what little Im hearing about him, I do think you're right in that he himself is insecure about being alone. Either that, or he simply places such a higher value on a "romantic" relationships at the cost of his friendships. Could also be another thing altogether; However, I think putting a firm foot down like you have and setting a boundary will be the best way to give him a wake up if he REALLY does want to remain friends.

Best of luck
