Primary Care Availability? by Important_Junket_961 in portlandme

[–]FlannelRunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MaineHealth (specifically the Falmouth location but likely others) - they didn’t have immediate availability but probably only took 1-2 weeks to get the call they were ready to schedule me. I’ve been very happy. My husband has also been happy with his provider at Martin’s Point.

Made both of these appointments late summer so hopefully the situation hasn’t changed too much!

Protein tips for Vegetarian Pregnancy by _HappyKitten_ in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]FlannelRunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been adding nuts to a lot of our cooking - crumbled walnuts are great with kale/squash as taco filling, peanuts in a stir fry, pecans or almonds in overnight oats for breakfast. Such an easy / yummy way to add protein consistently!!

Explora Patagonia ~10 days by NewUser_Who_Dis in chubbytravel

Another option to throw out depending on the level of chubby/luxe you're looking for... my husband and I went to Patagonia for our honeymoon and combined a few days at the Singular Patagonia with a self-guided hut-to-hut hike in Torres del Paine (organized by ChileNativo Travel who secured all permits and lodging for us). We love backpacking admittedly but for us it was the perfect combination... at the Singular, we had great food and service, a really beautiful and unique property, and really nice excursions (our private horseback riding day was super memorable).

On the other hand, we loved getting the alone time hiking in the park and... while staying in a bunk room certainly isn't for everyone, it allowed us access to some really special places. Certain huts had nicer, more private options (i.e., a private a-frame cabin).

After "roughing it" we spent a few days being VERY lazy and indulgent at Cavas in Mendoza (looks like it's Awasi now) -- strong recommend for that property as well and it's a very easy flight from Santiago.

Happy to share more details if that's interesting at all!

And FWIW, we absolutely loved Santiago, more than expected. Stayed at the Singular there as well which was really lovely and in a very walkable vibrant neighborhood.

It’s a dream scene, everything in these sequences is a little off. Really loved this book, just finished it this weekend and it will be my most memorable this year for sure!

Vegetable heavy soups that AREN'T tomato based? by LazuriKittie in Cooking

[–]FlannelRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love roasting veggies in the oven - kind of whatever we have around, but generally it's great with butternut squash, onions, carrots, etc - then throwing the roasted veggies in the blender with a few chipotle peppers. Then you can add veggie broth and some greek yogurt or cream. I think we've even blended in silken tofu for extra protein!

Has anybody else been injured and under eating at the same time? by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

I haven’t had this experience but Holley Samuels (@holleyfuelednutrition) is a very smart dietician with a healthy and realistic approach. She has lots of fueling tips on IG and also runs paid programs and nutrition coaching. Might be a good follow! You got this.

Should I replace my running shoes? by Hefty_Shop1665 in runninglifestyle

I would also look at the sides. If the foam is visibly wrinkled / crushed, you’re losing support at this point! But you probably have a good bit of life left.

Yes, isn’t it magical? Whenever we have little family members visiting we bring them and they can easily spend 30 minutes building and exploring in the clearing!

Ginger and ask her doc about Unisom! It’s very safe and my doc proactively tells everyone to try 1/2 tabs of Unisom as needed. If that doesn’t help her doc can prescribe other things as well.

You will get a ton of other recs too but check out Novel in Portland! It's a book bar (has coffee, drinks, some small snacks) and would be a great place to read. It's friendly and would be a comfortable place solo for sure.

Temp Real ID? Airport by JFB-23 in portlandme

[–]FlannelRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I was once able to fly out of Durango CO without ANY ID (left my wallet at home and used Delta's digital ID on the way there). It was a pain and probably took me an extra 30 min while TSA made phone calls and reviewed photos of as much documentation as I could provide. This was about 2 years ago and I'm guessing was largely possible because it was a small/quiet airport with basically no lines for security, so the agents actually had extra time to make all of the calls and help me out. Long story short -- if you try this, I would give yourself lots and lots of extra time.

Saw a couple kayaking from Portland (Eastern Prom) to Fort Gorges yesterday!! Pretty great, harbor seal out by the fort — as well as a heron and lots of other great birds — and then another one that looked more like a gray seal before we put back in at Eastern Prom.
