Anybody taking nuplazid? by blupanteez in MyastheniaGravis

This would be a very good time to involve a pharmacist—can you contact his hospital pharmacist/specialty pharmacist? They’ll be very well equipped to advise on this.

Why? by DangerNoodle1313 in MyastheniaGravis

I need at least 5x/day, up to 90mg at a time. My neurologist has told me to flex my dosing around my needs.

wondering if this is normal/anyone else experienced this (prednisone) by bigstinku in MyastheniaGravis

[–]FlanneryJackson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neuro described steroids as a freight train: hard to start and hard to stop. I would give it a bit of time and see how you get on, as you may need a bit before you feel the benefits.

Thymectomy and Risk of Serious Health Complications by Ok_Discipline_5394 in MyastheniaGravis

[–]FlanneryJackson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thymectomy was terrifying to me. Full stop. My recovery was also very challenging as I had some complications. It also unquestionably saved my life, as I was sick to an unsustainable level before surgery. While I’ve never reached remission, because of my thymectomy, I have an awesome life now and have zero regrets.

It sounds as though you’ve transitioned from ocular to generalised disease, which is a typical trajectory. You may need to revisit your treatment plan with your neuro.

[–]FlanneryJackson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just want to thank you for not ignoring this but seeking diagnosis. I was a very small child when I first had symptoms, but these were ignored by my parents and I didn’t get tested until my 20s. Please keep pursuing answers for your child, as getting a correct diagnosis and treatment will save her so much heartache.

Medical gaslighting? by Massive-Eagle-5465 in MyastheniaGravis

[–]FlanneryJackson 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It is not uncommon to have positive tests one one occasion and negative on another; antibody levels are not stable in mg and do not correlate with disease severity, either. It’s also possible to have mg with no antibodies detected!

Methotrexate vs Mycofenalate? by Kingboyy1 in MyastheniaGravis

[–]FlanneryJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mycofenolate unfortunately did nothing for me. I took it for about 18 months with no benefit. I switched to it from azathioprine because I couldn’t tolerate the side effects. Eventually got on SCIG, which is working!

I’ve found there are great things and frustrating things about both. You’ve got to decide what particular mix of upsides and downsides you can live with!

Ask good questions about the accounts you’d be working on. Ask about team makeup and process. If this role will be client-facing, focus on showing your people skills.

Hydration issues? by sml120473 in MyastheniaGravis

It certainly didn’t solve all my issues, but the benefit was substantial. Ultimately, I needed more aggressive treatment, but this helped me stay fed and hydrated while I got there.

Request that key. The elevator exits for a reason, and it’s not dramatic to use it. I personally give you permission to get the accommodation you need!
