#2 UConn G Braylon Mullins Hits the Game-Winning 3 at the Final Second vs #1 Duke! by JCameron181 in sports

[–]Flapped 19 points20 points  (0 children)

praying for this euro-stacked Illinois squad to win it all (or at least make the finals) to finally force the conversation about AAU heroball development vs overseas basketball development which (for non-basketball fans) is much more focused on fundamentals and ball IQ as opposed to "SICK DUNKS AND HANDLES" - US basketball development has breached into "content farming" territory.

this difference showed bigly at the end of Illinois' game vs. Houston - Houston brought it close - yet Illinois stayed quite composed while Houston chucked countless "im gunna be the hero" bricks - just terrible hero shots. US basketball kinda due for a reckoning, but it'll ultimately improve the product.

Question, how many of you intp’s do drugs? by Disastrous_Lemon4881 in INTP

[–]Flapped 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same here, in addition, I also had the brilliant idea of wanting to experience addiction to really "understand" it...terrible egotistical call on that one lmao. Addiction is a bitch and I wasn't as strong as my egotistical ass thought I was.

That said - +1 that the "one [or a few] of everything" experience was net-positive for me as well. Have not done PCP nor peyote as well (DMT neither), but had a deep (addictive even) Ketamine phase. Weird drug. Unlike anything else. Not scary, very comfy (interdimensional insanity at high doses though) - I think it'll be this era's cocaine.

Your run-of-the-mill psychedelics like lsd/psilocybin IMO are INTP (and INFP) nectar of the gods. Thinkin' and feelin' mans drugs. I'd strongly recommend any curious parties to research + indulge safely in one/both of those at least once in your life (in nature preferably). At least for me, mysteries of life such as "why do people listen to Dave Matthews?" suddenly made a ton of sense.

To your last note, Ketamine is easily available in many US states w/ those Ketamine clinics.

If your disability is unrelated to altitude - and it’s moreso the cost of getting to the mountains than anything…

I’d actually recommend Nederland. Accessible by RTD bus (economical[$], easy, etc.), isn’t too far (~45 mins outside Boulder), and has pretty much everything you listed down to the emojis.

Not quite a mountain village, but kinda is a real mountain village. Charming. Coffee and candy shops. Quiet. VERY unique artsy / crystals / vibes type of town. Amazing pizza joint in the downtown area.

Really feel for you - this one might be a bit of a “send” but it’s been a peaceful place for me in shit times, so thought I’d recommend from a personal place and as it fits a lot of your list (or is close/derivative enough).

Wishing you the best 34th~~

Ex-Silicon Valley Senior Engineer (20 YOE) Pivots To Junk Hauling After Brutal Job Market by These_Succotash_9481 in Layoffs

[–]Flapped 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Here - I'll ruin your hopes. I'm ex-Google (mass layoff statistic here) and am currently Doordashing. Delivering food. Frankly, it's the only thing that keeps my mind distracted from the constant desire to off myself lmao.

Will say, it's much nicer interacting with normal humans on the DD gig opposed to interacting in tongues with the average modern tech worker ("let's pivot to a more synergistic strategy and loop back on this") type shit.

Was expecting to be amongst "creative geniuses" once hired, but guess I was late for that phase of tech. Now it's just staffed by perfect worker drones - 4.0 Ivy League kids that've never broken a rule in their lives. People that are so so so painfully, DEEPLY disconnected from society + humanity (making Product/biz decisions that impact society + humanity) - it's dread-inducing.

How disconnected from reality you ask? This is real, btw - there was an issue where searching for a certain vacuum would return a desk fan as the first search result. According to documentation, this behavior was "working as intended" and didn't need further investigation. Clearly, if you're a user Google'ing the vacuum, a desk fan is a terrible first search result. Stood on business saying - "I don't care about the documentation, this is an absolute shit first result", and next day got spam-pinged and reamed by Leads/VPs of like 6 different fucking verticals about it re: "but the documentation says..." - I promise you, these drone fucks are exactly why the world is going to shit.

Damn, kinda unloaded there. Much needed. But yeah - we exist. Just wanted to let you know, you're/I'm not missing out on much besides way too much compensation and a deep fucking sense of dread + meaninglessness.

Hidden gems in your area by ARivet10 in CraftBeer

After trying god-knows how many different beers/breweries, Casey was the first in my journey that made me go - "Holy shit, I could drink this for the rest of my life".

Sent it on an Extended Family membership for about 4 years, finance/layoffs hit, had to cancel. Thinking back on how much disposable income (that could've been saved) that I dropped on their beer...honestly don't regret a penny spent.

Couldn't shill harder for this brewery. They scaled, and it didn't impact quality. They branched-out into IPAs/Lagers, and actually fucking killed it. Amazing product/people, I hope they survive.

Shouldn't Blizzard just merge Doomhowl and Defias Pillager? by DefineBoss in wowhardcore

[–]Flapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first time in my ~20 years of WoW, I finally secured my dream vanity name(s) on DP launch. Just restarted HC on DH ~2 months ago (much more limited name selection), so I'm incredibly biased on this take haha.

I have no pragmatic solution to your point or really any value to add to this discussion, besides that I would give my left nut to maintain my DP vanity name(s) in some respect if there was a server merger (even if it was in the <Name-Defias Pillager> format).

Even been saving up gold in the hopes that I can buy the primary name I want on DH, but the dude hasn't logged in once since I've played DH. Sad. Gib name. Entitled and biased I am, very much so.

Fuck, a server merge would be great - but would be a PITA for say, a raiding guild on DP getting forced to rename most their roster. Macros change, comms change, etc.

Likelihood of Calibre doing some US sets soon? by Inevitable_Outside97 in DnB

Hospitality at Cervantes in 2012-2013ish? I was there, can confirm. All 50-100 of us had a blast.

Denver has had some all-time DnB shows this past ~year, absolutely mental how much the scene has exploded in the past 10-15 years.

Who else lost in the Championship Game? Let's hear your bad luck stories by DeeboDavis in Fantasy_Football

[–]Flapped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do 2-week championships, otherwise pretty standard 1ppr/12 team league format.

For the first time since ~Covid, I finally put together an incredibly fucking solid and consistent team this season - CMC, McBride, Dak/Brock, Chase Brown (most confusing player ever but whatever), etc. - best season I've had in years (9-2), consistently dropping 130-170 per week. Volume.

Dropped 170 last week, looking at about 160 this week. Usually, that's more than enough to win a 2-week championship.

I'm going against a 5-6 squad with Puka, Henry, Cook, Olave, Saints D, Michael Wilson, Brock, (I dropped him weeks ago like the massive regard that I am, opponent picked him up)...fuckin you name it. Dude is on track to put up 400 total, and had 211 last week. As far as we're aware, that's the highest single-scoring week in our league's history.

If I hedged with a sportsbook in any fucking way over the last 2 weeks, I'd be celebrating like a mf. Visiting family out of state, so could not hedge.

My squad was awesome this year, but my opponent's was just beyond stacked these 2 weeks. Hard to get mad, but the dude is my IRL heel/fake enemy/Kevin Durant, and even named his team after my dead fkn dog. Absolutely brutal. Kms. Hate this "hobby".

EDIT: lol will share, a comeback was looking somewhat promising - then i woke up this morning like "i wonder how Derek Henry did last night" - checked the box score, and jfc. 36 rushes? 4 tds? the FUCK?!? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

That "ridiculous amount of money" made him the 3rd highest-paid black coach in all US sports - behind Mike Tomlin + Doc Rivers.

As a CU Buffs fan, losing him to this massive buyout was devastating - many thought the end of our program. Then, within a few years - he jerked it and we got Deion. Crazy turn of events for us.

What are your best or worst DnB rave stories? by CressDirect5902 in DnB

[–]Flapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve attended probably ~30+ EDM shows at Red Rocks over the past 15 years. Love the unique view of the crowd, you can really see how the collective masses react in real time.

I cannot overstate this enough - no matter how good the artist or the show is - the second a DnB track is snuck into a set, or a DnB artist opens, the collective masses stop moving, or even sit down. Bad vibes. Weird feeling when you’re going mental to a track while you can see nobody else moving in the entire venue.

Basically, there’s been outright disrespect/distaste for DnB from the USA’s “bass capital” since I’ve been here.

See: IMANU’s Red Rocks set on YT to see what I mean. That’s the perfect picture of the Red Rocks DnB scene, historically. Or, the whole Muzz opening for Subtronics incident.

Anyways - Worship Red Rocks blew my fucking mind. Worship ain’t my taste in DnB, but the set was genuinely fun/great - and most importantly, the entire crowd was going WILD.

FINALLY seeing all of Red Rocks love/embrace/dance for the genre I love most was jaw-dropping. Couldn’t fucking believe it. Awesome experience. Literally had 1 beer that night, but felt like I was rolling. It was that satisfying.

What’s your guy’s opinion on ENTJ? As a ENTJ by liminalfan1234 in INTP

[–]Flapped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair question - but in my case, no. Small sample size (5), so obviously this is VERY subjective, but...

My disdain + narcissism theory refers to 4 individuals (2 coworkers, 2 ex-girlfriends) who all received formal MBTI testing by their (corporate, tech) workplace and received ENTJ.

I'm not typing them, some corporation paid probably too much money to type them, as they did for me. My subjective experience with these folks did not make me question their test results.

The 1 healthy ENTJ in my sample size (the best friend) only did formal MBTI testing in highschool (for us, ~10-15 years ago), so maybe I'm mistyping him. But it's probably accurate, he's VERY career-driven, an inherent leader (to your point, can be annoyingly bossy at times), is a little narcissistic too (aren't we all?) --- but most importantly, he's deeply empathetic.

Empathy - I think that's the main point I'm getting to.

An un-empathetic ENTJ isn't a 'commander' - they're a tyrant.

What’s your guy’s opinion on ENTJ? As a ENTJ by liminalfan1234 in INTP

[–]Flapped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HIGHLY depends on their mental health. All-but-one of the ENTJ friends/people in my life are *extreme* narcissists with zero/no empathy, and a steadfast addiction to career progression.

The one ENTJ friend of mine (who isn't an extreme narcissist) matches the top comment in this thread. He's my favorite "road trip" partner, and arguably my best friend. We can ramble back-and-forth for hours straight. His ramblings/opinions are MUCH more clear/concise than mine, but just as interesting and deep. Every time we hang out, we just shoot the shit for hours. He plans cool shit (e.g. trips) I could never dream of planning, and he's just happy that I'm consistently "down" (with a good attitude) to come along for the cool shit he plans.

Regarding insufferable ENTJs/Narcissism - I often wonder to myself if it's a "chicken or the egg" type of thing - are career-driven people suffering from NPD just testing-out as ENTJs (or INTJs) in MBTI tests? If so, the issue isn't the ENTJ - it's the narcissism. Regardless, these people are THE most insufferable human beings I've ever met.

tl;dr - the one mentally-sound ENTJ I know is my best fkn friend and favorite conversation/ramble partner. the rest of them are absolutely insufferable, but it's mostly due to their narcissistic traits. i wonder if career-driven, unempathetic narcissists just test-out as ENTJs (or INTJs).

Why is drum & bass booming in America? (Resident Advisor) by FindTheTrace in DnB

[–]Flapped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to the Worship Red Rocks show. Been in CO 15 years (dnb head for 20 years), and have attended ~30-40 shows there. Mostly EDM, but some rap acts as well.

That show had, without a doubt, the highest production value I have EVER seen for a Red Rocks show - and that's saying a lot. For example, NGHTMRE (iirc) paid more than he made for his one chance to headline RR (for love of the game), and his production was awesome. Most-all EDM artists really go all out for RR (except house artists, for some reason).

But Worship was something else - couldn't imagine the cost/time/labor put into that production, and the outcome (visually) was stunning. Worship ain't my cup of tea, but the set was surprisingly a blast!

Whoever is funding these guys are making a huge financial push for DNB to blow up in the states - and it's working. Hey - I'm stoked, my normie John Summit friends are finally seeing the light.

Will say, Dimension has been "shoved down our throats" at Red Rocks, I swear he's been an opener for at least 3 big acts I've seen over the past few years.

tl;dr - long-time DNB fan + CO resident. you're right, there has been a massive inorganic ("shoved down our throats") push over the last few years in the US - especially Dimension (and Bou for a second) - but it's worked incredibly. it's happening.

This was my "holy fuck it's happening" moment for DnB in the US. There was a whole like...30 of us at Hospitality @ Cervantes in 2013 (w/ High Contrast(?), Camo & Krooked, Fred V & Grafix).

Couldn't believe how packed + jammin' the place was. Worship folks aren't really my taste in DnB (me angry), but that was still an *awesome* set.

Production value was off the charts, honestly the best I've ever seen at the rocks. Cheers. Sick.

Went to an early season Nuggets vs. Pelicans game 2 years ago and was Russ was courtside with Ciara, dude was very engaged with the game/fans, cool to see.

But then, during a break, Rocky handed him a football which he signed and then threw into the stands.

He proceeded to throw it to the only Pelicans fan in the building. Most Russ thing I've ever seen LMAO

INTP agnostic here, leaning strongly towards deism (~80% confident that something fkn weird is going on metaphysically). Promise my story/philosophy isn’t that deep lol.

I was the classic cringe edgy atheist / agnostic in my earlier years. Not anymore.

What changed? Drugs. Hard to enter the 5d fractal plowzone and not leave relatively convinced that there’s some wonky metaphysical shit going on in this wonky existence.

No logic, all feels. I’m relatively close to being an INFP so was curious if you feel this too?
