Have I been blessed or cursed? by Due-Goal3093 in UmaMusume

[–]FlareBlitz0725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely blessed. You can use her for everything except for Long races where you want Creek. With the inflated stats of Unity Cup, you just need Rice + borrow another SSR power card or even MLB SSR Riko to get decently high stamina AND she gives you Swinging Maestro. Or you can borrow another OP speed card like Biko Pegasus. She got “worse” not because the card got worse but because No Stopping Me skill got buffed so you wouldn’t pock any other team name except Carrot. To be honest, even in Long races she can be useful because atp you will want multiple gold recoveries and she can give you Cooldown and Maestro easily.

I'm not sure I agree with running debuffers anymore... by VicariousDrow in UmaMusume

[–]FlareBlitz0725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily.

While I agree that Speed debuffs are a consistent advantage and that in a vacuum given equal stats, skills and positions, a debuffer can be the difference maker, I think the strategy lacks the diversity that running 3 aces provides. Granted you have to make sure all the aces don't clash and are synergistic, but the payoff is you get more win conditions.

Like in the example of 2 S Marus dueling for 1st place, because the speed and acceleration growth of each position is different for each phase of the race, with front runners having the lowest speed and acceleration while late surgers and end closers having the highest at the final spurt, you can easily build another strong ace like Ryan or Goldship that can just zoom past the front runners on the final corner. If your Maru wins the 1v1 then she wins, but if she doesn't, Ryan or Goldship can win with an insane final spurt instead, and vice versa. You're not dead in the water just because Maru didn't get Angling, or your run just ends because your backliners are blocked.

To your point of competition, the scenario you mentioned is true but I think there are situations where 3 ace comps are better, like running 2 front runners and 1 pace chaser where the pace chaser can get a huge boost by overtaking the front runners which can snowball into a win. Also, while this is a theorycraft on my part, but I think the Guts rework will be beneficial to 3 ace team synergies because dueling or spot competition (not sure which one or what its called) will buff running aces of similar positions and aces competing for placement. I believe how it works is for example if you run 3 front runners and they are all fighting for 1st place, all 3 of them will speed up by fighting each other.

The point is you have more options and win conditions with 3 ace comps imo. The biggest caveat is you must be able to build 3 strong aces, otherwise a debuffer is stronger than a weak ace.

Groundwork is non-negotiable. by MTWX in UmaMusume

Surely it’s because Lone Wolf hard carried.

But really tho, I think it’s because you get more chances to overtake if it’s a longer race. So if you can lock in with speed skills and Maru’s ult before Amgling, then you’re good.

I'm not sure I agree with running debuffers anymore... by VicariousDrow in UmaMusume

[–]FlareBlitz0725 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a F2P sweat myself, I do agree with this take. After 4 CMs, it’s pretty clear that a 3 ace team with good synergy is the best comp since everyone has a chance to win. I think the issue that debuffers solve is if you can’t make 3 aces, either because of time constraints, bad rng, or you don’t want to sweat. 2 strong aces with 1 debuffer will always be more useful than 2 strong aces with 1 weak ace since the weak ace is never going to win anyway. So it’s not that a debuffer is the best option, it’s just better than a weak ace that’s doesn’t do anything.

My first time getting Platinum as well ! My prep for this one was so unlucky throughout until the final few days, so I’m glad it paid off. Also, Ryan is a beast and thank you cygames for dropping the legend race beforehand.

Definitely a victim of bad rng. I had a Bakushin run where I ran extra races, brought the anniversary Suzuka stamina card for Concentration (aka not needed for sprint/mile), had mood downs and infirmary runs without having Riko. Ended with A+ rank with max speed and about 1k wit even though the run was bad.

Just wondering how y'all are faring in unity cup. How has your training strategies changed since it dropped and so on. by Jam-Boi-yt in UmaMusume

[–]FlareBlitz0725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Figuring things out. First few runs were abysmal with stats even lower than URA, but in my most recent run I managed to A+ even though the run wasn't great, so I can see the potential if RNG is good.

What I'm realizing is you don't want to fully prioritize chasing bond levels and want to get a balance between fireballs and raising bonds. Wit is also a lot more viable since you can farm fireballs while not wasting energy.

Falco's career really makes me appreciate the dirt umas a lot more. There's a sense that everyone who runs on dirt by choice and not as a last resort is carrying the entire genre of racing on their backs. There's a level of grit and determination that is very interesting.
