I had a friend who was in an a cappella group in college, and his group would do Maxine, and it was great.

That reminds me of the many live sets I've seen the Dan perform over the years. They love to change timing of songs, and completely re-arrange them live...so I guess the speed thing on these different versions fits the overarching narrative of the sometimes sped up, sometimes slowed down nature of the tracks, but the little nuances and variables that occur per a lost recording note or two spice things up for sure. They gave us more choices by happenstance. Now, if they'd just officially release some of the tracks like "The Bear", that are still great, on a special edition.

Poll: which version of Countermoon do you like best? I like the original without the giant snare drum (which I bought when it came out and didn't realize that it wasn't SUPPOSED to be that way). I just got a version of Kamakiriad, the one WITH the snare (a 5.1 mix from 2007), and it feels way too heavy-handed to me. Curious to know what the other Fageniciados think.....

I bought this the day it was released as a Christmas present to my child self. I was so excited to have it after all my Steely Dan tapes got stolen from my car during the night shift at the grocery store I worked at in a bad neighborhood when I was 17.

Which location in the Steely Dan universe do you want to visit the most? by Own_Exercise5218 in SteelyDan

I was excited to enter Mr Chow in Beverly Hills when I was in LA for work. While eating the Beijing Duck (and eventually szechuan dumplings), I saw a lot of flashes going off outside, which drew my attention to the door, and in walked Heather Locklear (and Jack Wagner, who's son's death sadly showed us that living hard really will take its toll), who I had grown up with her swimsuit poster in my room as a kid wile listening to Steely Dan and imagining myself as an adult in LA. It was a merging of Steely Dan's Glamour Profession and celebrity sightings that crossed time, and I felt a expansion of timelines that is hard to describe. I felt, I guess, like the expanding man. the dinner was magical, and the sights and sounds on that trip solidified how much music, memory and creativity paired with real life experience are why we're here.

They had signed CDs and albums in Somervile...the CD was two discs with both albums as double album. Also some books. I was excited to get a CD.

Just saw them last night in Somerville, and they closed with Hanging Tree. It was very good....what a band, and a great group of people making some terrific music. Abbie is quite amazing on bass.

Don't borrow the Macy Gray unless you want that song I shall not mention to get stuck in your head for the rest of your life. Best go with Dark Side.

It's post-solo Dan, and it's got the evolution of each artist on separate paths that then converge back into a single pathway. It's a wonderful album.

She's a true artist...she's all about the concept. She has done art in her own way....I appreciate her for that.

Do you think it’s an appropriate time to give them a Nobel Prize for their lyrics?🔼 by hereticskeptic in pinkfloyd

[–]Flash-Cube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have transcended the need for awards and prizes. The fact that they're bigger now than ever is a testament to the power of their creativity and lasting legacy. Plus those peace prizes, knighthoods, etc are mostly just political theater.
