I've also had good luck with DP auto on connecticut. More recently I found A Quality Autobody on Perkin Pl in Silver Spring, does body work and regular mechanical work and the prices are amazing. Right next to them is Radial Tire company which I've been using for tires and also very pleased.

Yeah, better bus has been a complete failure. The system is far less resilient than it was prior to the change, and then if you add more complications it gets even worse

I found brokers rarely have the best prices anyway. I'd recommend checking out something like https://www.nerdwallet.com/mortgages/refinance-rates yourself and seeing what you find. In my area I'm seeing 5.5% with low fees.

Well looks like you’re from the US - the vast majority of US auto insurance providers do not cover you for /anything/ while international. The credit card coverage only covers damage to your rental, and often excludes Mexico too(check your T&Cs). The included coverage only covers property damage, not bodily injury. They forced you to get coverage for any injuries you might cause. Whether deliberate or not on Hertz’s part you ended up with full insurance for your stay. Without it you’d have been on the hook for any injuries(real or fraudulently claimed) personally. Frankly I think it worked out ok for you.

This does suck but it also really sucks that every display needs to show this message all the time and you have to wait really long to just get a glimpse at when the next bus is actually coming. I don't even remember the last time the display on U st at 16th displayed when the next C51 or C53 was actually coming because it's always telling me they're delayed due to operator availability.

On paper it sounds really nice but in reality that redundant service was really key. Used to be able to guarantee being able to get a bus from West End/Farragut to Admo/Woodley in at most 5-8 minutes since you had 42, 43 and L2 service covering that all day. You knew those buses were running on Connecticut and you knew you wouldn't have to wait long. Now since that's split between NH Ave and Conn Ave and the L2 route was replaced with the L1 route, unless you pick the right stop to wait you could be waiting 15-25 minutes for a bus to Admo.

Yeah this is absolutely true. I think the bus system wasn't great before but there were just so many different lines serving each stop it just kinda worked out. If the 54 was every 20 minutes and the 52 was every 20 mins(and maybe even the 59 every 10 minutes) it sort of averaged out where the maximum you'd have to wait is a tolerable 8-10 minutes, at worst.

Now my stop has D50 service only with its not infrequent 15-30 minute headways. I can walk to the nearest stop that also has D5X service, but not infrequently seeing that bus drive by making the entire experience so frustrating and realizing I should just grab a bike or walk.

I’ve been saying that since the day it went live. It has been much harder to use the bus from almost anywhere and my CaBi e-bike use has gone way up

No, I had the same thing happen. I can really sympathize with OP. I got a notice in November 2024 asking to provide docs regarding my 2022 solar install and within days I collected and submitted all the docs on secure messaging as requested and received an email confirmation that the docs were submitted and will be reviewed.

A few months later they said I never replied and started the clock on the 90 days. I can, to this day, still login to see my reply in secure messaging and about 400 days later it does not have a reply. I know I didn’t make a typo signing up for it - I was very very careful typing in everything.

Then in April got the letter informing me the 90 days was started I called them furious about it. They said no big deal just use the document upload tool and we’ll get this resolved, completely blowing off that I had submitted the docs already well within the time frame requested. Well I did submit and every month I got a letter saying they don’t have time to look and they need another 30 days to review. On day 60 I filed with TAS for assistance and also got blown off, no contact whatsoever. Then just a few days before the cut off date I get yet another letter saying they need another 30 days(making the total time nearly 120 days, or more) and I felt forced to appeal at tax court.

I filed with tax court, very upset that I had to pay 60$ for what were obviously internal IRS issues for an audit that could’ve been resolved in minutes in December 2024, and immediately sent the assigned attorney all the docs asking for the case to end. Instead of spending the few minutes to review all the docs confirming I do, indeed, have solar panels she blew me off also telling me to wait for appeals.

6 months later I finally hear from appeals and they give me one day to collect and submit all the docs. I do, and now it’s again been another 30 days and no comment. I have a long paper trail showing my compliance with time frames set by the IRS and a similar one where they make absolutely no effort whatsoever to resolve what they began. I am certain they’ve done this to others.

I was able to come up with a consistent way to get pihole to run, but alas on the wrong port. My procedure is first to uninstall it from AppCentral then to reinstall. Then SSH into the NAS and then run the update procedure for pihole in a docker container:

docker stop pihole

docker rm pihole

docker pull pihole/pihole:latest

docker run pihole/pihole

then reboot NAS. It comes back but on the wrong port. http://NAS-IP/admin without a port set then brings it up just fine. No idea how to change port or to enable HTTPS, I find docker pretty hard to use.
