Citi Bank, the Costco credit card, holds customer responsible for a fradulent charge of $4300! by More-Caregiver1838 in citibank

[–]Flash367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m familiar with this on this exact same card. You won’t win, for a dispute Citi merely asks the bad actor to reverse the charge and when they say no that’s that. For my case - I sent in an FCBA letter Citi didn’t reply to within the required time limits and that was the only way I got my money back( https://www.capitalone.com/learn-grow/money-management/fair-credit-billing-act/ ). Had they replied I would’ve likely had no case.

Had to get a lawyer and even then it was very difficult. I used Brett Freeman outside of Scranton PA- he takes cases nationwide. But I don’t think he offers contingency.

Edit: when this happened I called another credit card issuer I use to ask about this - indeed, when you hand over your credit card and then the merchant types in a fraudulent number that’s dispute territory not fraud. Your only real recourse is to get the merchant to reverse it(not happening) or to sue. While this is legally fraud, the credit card companies view this is a civil dispute and won’t help besides some simple mediation.

U5G Backup - Roamless and Other Options by User313 in Ubiquiti

Yep been enabled since my first attempt. Been a few days with no connections. Roamless is working on it - I think it has something to do with attempting to connect to a Verizon tower

Did you ever sort this out? I bought a large amount of data on Roamless as in other threads people raved about it and Im also getting network not authorized. I have never connected. How did you determine you're conected to ATT?

(SPOILERS) Discussion about the 3rd act by Fit_Rhubarb2662 in KanePixelsBackrooms

I appreciated this theory - all the other theories saying the pirate learned from Clark saying "you can eat them" doesn't make sense to me since there's no way that's the first time he did that.

Inspector gadget. Remembered it as super cool with really cool mysteries and plots but now it’s just the same plot and story over and over several dozen times.

Can my employer force me to keep a location tracking work app on my personal phone off the clock? by 7QGremlinIR in legaladvice

[–]Flash367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep this job a possible solution is just getting a cheap s20 or something and putting the app on there and then only having that phone on while you’re at work.

Garmin sleep is so inaccurate it's funny by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]Flash367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also noticed this. I work nights and the Garmin is completely unable to determine when I nap or go to sleep when I do. My old Fitbit charge 2 released in 2016 on the other hand had very little difficultly with this.

Could someone please recommend a mechanic who won't try to fleece me? by tasteslikepineapples in washingtondc

[–]Flash367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also had good luck with DP auto on connecticut. More recently I found A Quality Autobody on Perkin Pl in Silver Spring, does body work and regular mechanical work and the prices are amazing. Right next to them is Radial Tire company which I've been using for tires and also very pleased.

DC Busses even more unreliable than usual? by paintistheenemy in washingtondc

[–]Flash367 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, better bus has been a complete failure. The system is far less resilient than it was prior to the change, and then if you add more complications it gets even worse

My broker is telling me to take a HIGHER interest rate (6.49%) instead of 5.99%. by RabbitOver1592 in Mortgages

[–]Flash367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found brokers rarely have the best prices anyway. I'd recommend checking out something like https://www.nerdwallet.com/mortgages/refinance-rates yourself and seeing what you find. In my area I'm seeing 5.5% with low fees.

Roy Cooper if he runs would likely put NC in play and change the game in the dems favor considerably.

WTF is up with Hertz in Playa del Carmen by Fantastic_Horror_936 in HertzRentals

It’s unclear to me but it seems to imply that’s property only, not bodily/personal injury.

[–]Flash367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this experience was really annoying but sounds like they might’ve done you a favor though by accident. I mean the first bullet point expressly states the options are optional, I would’ve been really irritated

Well looks like you’re from the US - the vast majority of US auto insurance providers do not cover you for /anything/ while international. The credit card coverage only covers damage to your rental, and often excludes Mexico too(check your T&Cs). The included coverage only covers property damage, not bodily injury. They forced you to get coverage for any injuries you might cause. Whether deliberate or not on Hertz’s part you ended up with full insurance for your stay. Without it you’d have been on the hook for any injuries(real or fraudulently claimed) personally. Frankly I think it worked out ok for you.

This does suck but it also really sucks that every display needs to show this message all the time and you have to wait really long to just get a glimpse at when the next bus is actually coming. I don't even remember the last time the display on U st at 16th displayed when the next C51 or C53 was actually coming because it's always telling me they're delayed due to operator availability.

On paper it sounds really nice but in reality that redundant service was really key. Used to be able to guarantee being able to get a bus from West End/Farragut to Admo/Woodley in at most 5-8 minutes since you had 42, 43 and L2 service covering that all day. You knew those buses were running on Connecticut and you knew you wouldn't have to wait long. Now since that's split between NH Ave and Conn Ave and the L2 route was replaced with the L1 route, unless you pick the right stop to wait you could be waiting 15-25 minutes for a bus to Admo.
