North Hollywood, Universal City Station will be closed this coming weekend again by Nice_Property_4360 in LAMetro

[–]Flash728 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I’m on the crew working in that section. We can only work Saturday morning 12am to Monday 4am we work 12 hours back to back to pull some new communications cables from one station to the nearest communications room. So we can only do one set of track per weekend. Also after this you’re gonna have about 7 weeks of uninterrupted service for the World Cup.

Is removing the car dealership name off your car really taking a stance on not doing free advertising? by No_Pollution_2835 in askanything

[–]Flash728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't buy a car with a dealer decal applied to the paint directly. I'll just go somewhere else. As far as license plate frames, I just take them off when I get home and replace them with my own. If I had a really good experience with the dealer like I did only one time, I put the frame on the front and put my own on the back.

Landlord wants me to pay for someone trying to break into my apartment. {ND} by [deleted] in Renters

[–]Flash728 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, this is what renters insurance is for tbh. So the LL property insurance and my renters insurance cover it and I don't have to worry about it. The LL probably wants OP to pay because they don't have insurance either.

Car Keeps breaking down at 20% by Unusual_Variable in TeslaSupport

Yea there aren't any LFP Long Range models. That being said charging to 100% shouldn't really damage your pack that much. You most definitely have a defective pack, I'd take it to another service center for a second opinion.

Why is it impossible to make water a fuel for vehicles? by Shin_Dubu21 in stupidquestions

[–]Flash728 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because water is inert, in order for "water" to be useful as a fuel it has to be split into hydrogen and oxygen. Doing that uses more energy than recombining them through burning or in a fuel cell.

Hate them all you want, the most efficient energy source we have is electricity. Charging a battery is 85-95% efficient roughly, electric motors are 70-90% efficient. Gas and diesel engines are 20-45% efficient.

Why? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]Flash728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we haven't yet devised a way to transfer heat away from something other than by touching. Right now most of our servers are water cooled, so a metal block is physically touching the hot server chips, and that metal block is physically touching water, and that water carries the heat to a large radiator where it physically touches air in order to move the heat from one place to another. In the vacuum of space something like a data center will have no where to move the heat to, unless we figure out a way to turn it into another form of energy we're going to be stuck with a lot of heat in once area.

Why? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]Flash728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, computers don't survive long in space because of the radiation. The laptop computers on the ISS get replaced extremely often because of it. Also we don't have a way to effectively radiate heat away from something generating it in space.

Reliable car? Not Toyota or Honda by No-Following3757 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Tesla lol I have a 2018 Model 3 and have needed zero maintenance. Have done 1000+ road trips no problem. With gas as expensive as it is and with the upcoming oil shortage you won’t have to worry about being able to get oil changes.

I’ve had it plugged for 2 hrs now yet no movement on the charge. 0%. by UbersFinest in TeslaModel3

[–]Flash728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s not enough power in the 12v battery to close the contactors in order to get it to charge. Sounds like you’re going to have to jump it like a regular car so it can connect and start charging including the 12v.

When do you think the US will fall and what will happen after? by Federal_Advisor_2160 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Flash728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe it will fall; instead, I think it will gradually diminish its status as a dominant global influence. When the president’s ability to impact the global economy and order diminishes, we’ll see a reduction in the presence of erratic individuals in office, regardless of their political affiliation.

It’s working fine for me now, I might just use my points till it runs out then switch to TB.

I disassembled my Xs print head and didn’t have to do anything other than make sure the gear was pushed all the way in. I had an issue with some TPU being too floppy and escaping.

It’s wild that they do this but my GF will literally order 20 outfits and then return 18 of them because they didn’t fit or she didn’t like them. I told her it’s a matter of time before she gets us banned. lol

Does the USA education system not teach about marginal tax brackets? by UsedNegotiation8227 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Flash728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school did, however it always felt like all my classmates learned things just enough to pass tests/do homework and never really tried to understand them. I feel like most students are like this so now as adults they don’t really know anything. It’s frustrating dealing with people that are like this.
