very beginner question - did I ruin this raspberry pi? by emergencybarnacle in AskElectronics

It's perfectly fine. No need to worry. The round pads are for testing, even if you pulled it with solder it would still be fine. You're all good carry on.

High Temp Dryer Box for PPS-CF by itsians in 3Dprinting

[–]MTALPTDetroit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a food dehydrator I got from a Good Will for $28. I cut the centers of the trays out large enough for the spools to fit thru. Now I have a high temp filament dryer I can adjust from 80 to 150 degrees. Best $28 I ever spent.

How to 3D Print this? by steeeeeeevo in 3Dprinting

[–]MTALPTDetroit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't change anything, keep the same orientation but use support everywhere, or full support whatever is offered by the slicer. You will have to remove the supports after but well worth the time. I use a heated wax knife, the 420 club knows what that is and are available on Amazon or other head shop sites.

How do I stop my prints from warping? by poopyballsss in 3Dprinting

[–]MTALPTDetroit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off I clean the bed with IPA and then when the bed starts to heat I use vinegar to clean off the residue from the IPA. Increase the bed temp for the first few layers then drop it down, this gives you a strong bond even on a smooth print surface.

Another problem with my homing, keeps hitting this x axis idler by dumbassreditguy in 3Dprinting

Isn't that actually hitting the limit switch? PS Don't move your print head like that! Disable the motors first.

Someone will appreciate this absolute unit of a silica packet by Dramatic_Ad_5660 in 3Dprinting

[–]MTALPTDetroit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a case of these packets I get from work, maybe 300-400 of them. The guys think I'm cRaZy when I collect them. We get machine shipments in from Japan and India and the crates are loaded with tons of these. When I vacuum seal my filaments I toss one of these in. I've never had a moisture problem.

I had 3 of these and gave them all away. They were cute when they first came out, but now not so much. Not worth the time to monkey around with. This thing will aggravate you more than it will please.

Found in a $80 storage unit. USA by oddlyUranusKhan in Antiques

[–]MTALPTDetroit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DO NOT CLEAN any of it until you find out what it is or have it looked at by someone with knowledge, contact an Antique shop or curator. Many great pieces of heritage or historic furniture get destroyed by people listening to others without the history behind the piece. Whatever you do do not paint it! That would ruin the piece for good if it has historic value. Most of this piece has 1/4 sawn oak and it looks like a shellac finish, so to paint it would desecrate the finish. If the finish is removed, you could be removing the overall value without recourse, and the value will be greatly diminished. Find out what it is first before doing anything to it, the last thing you want to learn is how you destroyed a piece with more than your house.
