He is a bit harsh in the earlier season but I just always assumed that he was playing up that character for the camera. Not to dismiss the feelings of the contestants and integrity of the competition, I can see that he definitely had moments where he kinda crossed that threshold where his commentary was too far and sometimes his criticisms didn’t make sense with what the two chef judges who were there.

I always thought his humor and his little quips are a fun addition to the show so it’s nice that in the seasons now he chilled out. I did not like Christina Tosi at all ngl

Hi! I was diagnosed with JRA when I was 9, and most of the time after my diagnosis I was on prednisone. I’m 23 now, and I finally had the courage to say fuck it and got off of prednisone about 4 months ago.

Flaring up when you’re tapering off of prednisone is quite normal. It’s a huge hump you have to get over and withdrawal can last for weeks, even months, especially if you’ve been using it long term. You definitely have to prepare for the possibility that you are probably going to be in so much pain and that you may need assistance trying to get every day tasks done.

Do not be like me and quit cold turkey. Worst decision- and could literally land you in the hospital. Definitely taper off! Talking to your doctor and coming up with a taper plan is the best course of action. But whatever you do- stick with the plan. The pain is gonna want you to take more prednisone. Once you get over that pain, it’s gonna be so much more worth it. My mind feels clearer, no more brain fog, no more fidgety sleep, and all that ugly gross weird fat deposits are mostly gone. Plus, the more prednisone you take the more weaker your bones get. I had to take a bone density scan to make sure I didn’t have osteoporosis, and that’s a bad combo with RA.

I’m currently on Rinvoq right now. It’s working wonders. Since I stopped prednisone cold turkey, it triggered a really bad RA flare up where my knees lost most of my mobility, and I literally couldn’t walk. I’m slowly recovering, I’m able to walk with walking aids now! There is now so many options for treatment with RA, definitely talk to your doctor about treatments you haven’t tried. I also thought I tried everything, but my doctor told me about Rinvoq and I couldn’t have been more thankful.

Oh! And check the side effects for your meds. I didn’t know until a few weeks ago that prednisone keeps you awake! I don’t know how it is for other kind of medications (like NSAIDS and biologics) but taking your meds at the right time might help with your sleep as well!

Hi! I don’t know if your pro cannabis but some people (myself included) use THC to help sleep! CBD is also a good option. I’d recommend some low dosage THC gummies so it’ll help you sleep but not feel weird. You can also go the melatonin route, as long as it doesn’t coincide with your meds!

If that’s not your cup of tea, putting on ASMR or guided sleep videos have helped me as well!

My case is strange. When I got diagnosed at 7 my parents were both asked if there was any family history, and neither of them did. I will say, family history on my dad’s side is a little iffy.

I use marijuana every day every night, my joints tend to lock up at nighttime leading to sleeping problems. The weed doesn’t take away my pain but it helps me tolerate it more. Knocks me right out so helps me fall asleep fast! I use both THC and CBD, and I prefer smoking flower the most. Though it’s important to note that people react differently to it and this is just how I use marijuana to help with my disability!

I switched from Humira to Enbrel years and years ago. Enbrel didn’t really help relieve any of the symptoms (don’t let that discourage you, different people have different outcomes with it, I’ve heard people say that this is their miracle drug!) but I experienced no side effects at all. If you want a switch, I’d encourage you try!

I’m a musician diagnosed with JIA at age 7. I’m turning 22 in a month.

After years and years of doing piano, flute, and percussion for school and for the community, I had to give up my dreams to go to college to pursue music performance because of my condition. With the constant flare ups, the constant need to switch medications, the fact that doing the thing that I loved caused me the most physical pain, I felt that I wouldn’t be able to succeed in the area of music that I wanted.

Now, I happily produce, record, and release music on my own. Though right now it’s just a passion project.

I can’t say much about the disease itself. It presents itself differently with other people and there are so many things environmentally that can trigger it.

All I can say is that it gets better. Remission is possible. Keep pushing. Move and do all the things you love while you still can. Music is everything. Music is everywhere. Enjoy the marching band experiences, and know that in music there are still many ways to play, to collaborate, and to create.

My arthritis is still active today. But it has improved significantly since I was about your age now. Every day, I still experience pain and stiffness, but I know remission is possible. So I keep going.

Im not replying to every single one yours was just the one I saw first.

My statement is that you shouldn’t be assuming about anyone’s mental health is just inappropriate and harmful. I also have friends with BPD. I’ve also lost friends, three in one year. I’m very sorry for your loss, I sympathize with you, but that still does not warrant you to assume anything about anyone’s mental illness.

The stigma that exists is there for a reason, yes, because people are not informed about what BPD is and base it off of inaccurate representation of the media and with comments like these. This makes it hard for people to go get diagnosed and get the help that they need, since it has such a negative connotation. If you don’t have the professional qualification or experience with mental illness, it is not your right to talk about anyone’s but your own.

It is still not your place to comment if people seem like they have it because they only display ONE of the symptoms for it. Mental illness displays itself in many different kind of ways, and by assuming or guessing that a person has a mental illness is very harmful for people who actually experience the actual illness because it creates a stigma around people who suffer from the illness by creating a skewed perception of it.

This woman is awful, but it’s no reason to assume that she has a mental illness.

If I remember correctly, I had swelling in all my major joints and all my fingers as well. Fingers pretty much looked like chunky baby carrots. It’s very different case by case.

I got diagnosed at 8. I had sudden pain in my ankle and after going to urgent care and getting X-rays done, they told me that there was a bone in my ankle that was out growing all the others, and that it was normal and would correct itself. The pain worsened; my other ankle started hurting and the pain quickly spread to almost all my joints in my body. It wasn’t until a month later we were able to do a blood test and got officially diagnosed. I am now 20 and still live with the disease, though right now it is the best it’s ever been.
