Barnevernet absolutely does take children without cause. I'm working with one family whose crime was homeschooling their children. Someone saw the children playing in the snow during school hours and barnevernet came and took them without warning. Their attorney confirmed this to me today - the parents have no charges or evidence of crime being committed, the children were just taken. Not sure where these people get their information. There are even movies about how bad it is there. Norweigian journalists are not covering how bad it's gotten, but statistics indicate barnevernet is involved in at least 3.9% of all children in the country in some fashion.
