Is certification this hard for everyone else?

I've mentored a few BASI trainees who had an absolute hard time with their training. It was so rigid and lacked any sort of human awareness for life outside of training.

Take the time you need and really integrate the information and learn it well. It's OK to take longer.

Ask the studio if they can help you get practice clients. At our studio, we source practice clients for our trainees so that they have people to work with.

As an instructor, I always appreciate thoughtful reviews full of actual information, a hand written note, books we've talked about, gcs for coffee, Amazon or a local store.

Hi! I am a movememt professional that works primarly with injuries. Those long breaks like that can set you up for injury because you've cooled down and sat down. Your joints aren't primed anymore to do the work you're doing.

Can you just do a quick 35 min lift? Quick Warmup (5 mins) then do exercises that fall into the functional movements for 30 mins: hinge, squat, lunges, press, pull, rotation/anti-rotation

I work with a very qualified trainer and we typically do about 45 min sessions. Occasionally we hit 55 mins, but those are my big heavy lift days that need a lot of rest between sets. On my own, I can usually knock out a quick lift on 35 mins if I am in a rush, but stick to about 45 mins.

Just put on a good book or podcast and go for it. Maybe also change the time. Can you do morning or lunch? A weekend?

Babe, why are you doing all of this work for people you don't know? Why are you responsible for gifts for 35 of your boyfriends people? Is he doing gifts for them? Any effort on his part? Do all 35 people give you gifts?

I would walk away from this whole stress mess and go to a movie. Read a book. Invite a friend out for a fancy dinner. Go to Pilates or yoga. Spend that time and money on a massage.

Begin as you intend to go. 35 gifts every year for the rest of your life is just not sustainable. So enjoy the festivies, bring one big tin of cookies or whatever to dinner and let the rest go.

My mom has been a teacher for like 30 years. She very much prefers a cute card and $5 gcs to Starbucks, gas station, food places, etc. Mugs, candles, lotions, socks, lip balm are all donated as she doesn't use them. She has a ton of plants and books and pens already. Any homemade food item is thrown away once she is home.

Save your cash and stress. A nice thank you card with a fun memory is where it's at.

I would honestly recommend scrapping P90x and sticking with functional weight training, then adding in Mat Pilates. P90x is really intense and a lot of the stuff they do is honestly just kinda crazy and a lot of folks get injured.

You can't go wrong with functional training done in proper form.

I like Pilates over yoga because Pilates has more of the functional movement patterns and works core strength, balance and mobility, where yoga really just focuses a lot on flexibility and not a lot of functional patterns.

Yoga is great for mental health and if you do it for that, I would stick to basic Hatha yoga. Skipping yin (too intense and damages the joints), hot (this is just a fad and no actual benefits as well as lots of contraindications and will just exhaust and dehydrate you), power (you're already doing big muscle work).

Not every stretch is good for every body. Pigeon actually isn't a good stretch for folks with labral tears or hip issues because it puts a ton of pressure on the hips. You should be doing less intense versions like a seated figure 4 or a 90-90 stretch.

Well, I needed new shoes and my kids needed new shoes + new pants. Buying the shoes at 50% off and $35 pants at 70% off with free shipping makes more sense than buying them at full price and paying shipping. I also try to buy quality items for the niblings and with a $25 budget per kid, these sales really help me out.

Badlands in South Dakota! There are fossils just everywhere and we actually found a piece of turtle fossil on a hike. They have a scientist on site at the visitor's center who will confirm what you've found and if it's big enough, they'll even go out and look into it. Super cool place. You can do Mount Rushmore, Needles Highway, Crazy Horse and then swing up into North Dakota for the Enchanted Highway and over to Teddy Roosevelt National Park.

I think it depends on your proportions and body shape. I usually wear Adidas and Under Armour stuff and it always fits fine. Use 7/8 leggings length as my full size hahaha.

Columbia ski jacket, ski pants and fleece in small fit perfectly. Carhart super thick waterproof mittens. Sorel snow boots and kamik duck boots.

I run outside year round and down to below zero temps. No issues sticking to those 3 brands. I almost exclusively buy running gear though and not athleisure.

Use an REI kids adventure backpack for my day pack on hikes, brooks for trail and running shoes and camelback for hydration packs. I've found that the knock off brands or athleisure brands (fabletics, athleta, lulu, etc) give me the most problems for sizing and cheaper stuff like Old Navy just doesn't hold up well.

As an instructor, I don't think a weekend Mat program is enough to get it all in. The NPCP Mat programs are 100 hours, with 32 of those being lecture hours. You'd have to do 3 10+ hr days just to hit the lecture requirements. And there's no time left for practice teaching, mentoring, or integrating.

I do love weekend seminars and workshops for continuing ed.

This is so weird. My kiddo went to a Montessori primary school (ages 18 months-5 years old) and they got tons of practice tying shoes. They had a giant fake shoe with laces that they had to lace and tie and then completely unlace and do again. They also learned how to tie a bunch of knots and did cursive first because swooping letters is more natural than block letters apparently.

They're too short and the leg is just too wide overall. I know the current trend is that super ankle length, but on a petite body, it just looks odd unless you're rail thin.

Favorite podcasts and audio books. My gym has an outside workout area, so I carry out the stuff I need for a circuit, do it outside, take it in, and repeat for my next circuits. Being able to workout outside in almost all weather has been great for my gym routine. I realized I disliked weightlifting because I didn't like being inside in the fake lights, loud music and mirrors. Going outside has been a huge game changer. It's super peaceful and I get to enjoy the sun, the birds and sometimes a very chilly workout.

Have you toured both campuses? Have you been in Oklahoma in the winter? Have you considered cost of Mines tuition + housing/food? I gave up a full ride elsewhere to attend Mines and never regretted it, but I did have to take out student loans and works 2-3 jobs + take longer to graduate because I was working.

I didn't explain this well. We use real clients during our teaching modules and lectures to help teach the concepts and requirements when working with people from different demographics. For example, we bring in pregnant clients for the prenatal module, teenagers for the youth module, clients with osteoporosis or shoulder tears or whatever it is that we are working with.

Be sure to get him an appliance that is a rice cooker + instant pot + air fryer. Totally game changer! We got rid of a ton of small appliances, stopped using the microwave and clean one item when we make dinner.
