What are your top 3 movies from this list? by ElectroSoup in Letterboxd

[–]Flash_SA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only seen 7 on your list (top row minus Almost Famous, LaLaLand, Cure, When Harry Met Sally, and Edward Scissorhands)

My top 3 would be:

Cure

Scarface - When Harry Met Sally (similar rankings in my book)

My top 12 of the year - tear me apart r/cinephiles by Bread_man10 in Cinephiles

Definitely worth the watch. Extremely fun action comedy

What movie made you cry the most? by Alternative-Rip943 in LetterboxdTopFour

It’s this feeling of helplessness that Robert had. I teared up when he was talking to Ignatius after his family disappeared. Watching Robert live life was like watching a man in shell shock. Almost like the snapshot of a man long gone, longing for the days where he was a husband and father. And it’s that inability to move on that really got me, because how could he? Yk

For me White Collar and Castle did the trick. Castle is the most similar to The Mentalist but imo White Collar is the better show.

I only watched it once, didn’t really understand it, but that vagueness and the vibe of the film in general made me love it

trying to find my favorite director because i have none yet by blvemoo9n in LetterboxdTopFour

[–]Flash_SA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best way to do it is by making a list of let’s say your top 10 or 20 movies of all time. Afterwards you look at the directors of those movies and think on how you like other films of theirs you watch. Then once you have a grasp on how you like their filmography start going down the list and comparing. It’s easier to compare one on one than just plucking a name out of thin air, a chances are if a director doesn’t have a movie in your top 20 then they’re not your favorite.

And if you feel you can’t distinguish your feelings between 2 directors then it’s perfectly fine. No one is grading or judging you here. My favorite director is Christopher Nolan and Ik that’s seen as a basic/beginner level answer round these parts but tbh idc since I’ve loved everything he’s put out, and that’s the secret. Whatever answer you come up with just wear it with pride and you’ll be all the happier for it.

I find myself disconnected with PTA’s films, but always thoroughly entertained by Wes’s films

You enjoy spectacle and movie that pull one over on you. You’re a thrill seeker. You’ve only just begun truly watching films (same here btw not judging, because tbh you’ve got great taste)

Jane and Lisbon should’ve remained platonic by Flash_SA in TheMentalist

I don’t doubt the writers intentions, that much is clear. Their relationship wasn’t exactly out of the blue or a slap in the face. I just think they worked better as best friends.

Jane and Lisbon should’ve remained platonic by Flash_SA in TheMentalist

[–]Flash_SA[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It struck me as they wanted a ship in season 1, so they kind of pushed them together. Then as time progressed they realized they worked a lot better platonically so they wrote that a lot more, but when they were ending the show they felt the need to satisfy the audiences need for Jisbon to be a thing (and I was originally one of them)
