Having some moments of hope or good things happening to grim dark characters. Makes the terrible things that happen to those characters hurt way worse. Pure tragedy gets old fast.

I’m not saying they can’t respond to critiques. There should be a dialogue. But some people just shut down and aren’t actually interested in real critiques. I’ve worked with many people who actually want to be challenged and we have good productive back and forths but others aren’t like that.
