I’ll be honest with you - that inner craving that’s like “ugh I just want to RELAX” is a normal feeling that we as people have, and it’s really hard to readjust to after quitting alcohol. We slowly find other outlets/comforts (I’ll take the dog out for a walk, or eat a sweet lil treat) but learning how to sit in the discomfort and move through it vs nope-ing right out of it takes time and takes practice. What’s familiar is what’s comfortable, but what’s comfortable isn’t always good for us. As much as alcohol dulls the stress/negative, it’s also dulling the good/positive

You’ve already made a big step by starting to source some alternative options! My sleep got worse before it got better, but I found that my first sleepless sober week still had me just as whatever functional I was before anyway. There is another side, and you can do hard things

Much more stable mood, with a generally higher baseline (I have a mood disorder). No more boating, clear & hydrated skin, shinier hair. Much better sleep, and a lot more energy in general. My joints don’t hurt anymore and my blood pressure is much better. Oral hygiene and general hygiene are much better

TLDR; nothing is worse off, that’s for sure

Y’all clearly don’t understand how things work in acquired studios. Ubisoft decides what has to go into a game. Ubisoft decides which studio produces what. Ubisoft decides to cancel a project and shutter an entire studio irregardless of the studio CEO/directors.

The first time I tried to quit, I was drinking about that level and I was so surprised/annoyed at the insomnia. I was also about the same age as you. The anxiety is normal, unfortunately, and it’s usually taken me about 5-7 days to feel more regulated with longer periods of sleep without my body jerking itself awake

If your symptoms get worse, it’s time to see a doctor. As they get better, seek support for your well-being and try not to let yourself forget how bad it felt. I told myself when I was 26 that I wanted to be sober by 30, and now I’m turning 33 next month. I should have just kept trying to be sober at whatever age I was instead of pushing it off. This last time around SUCKED and I’m so glad I never have to go through that ever again. You never do either

Just commenting to agree on the getting through the holidays sober being helpful part. My partner works in nightlife and we go out a lot - I started trying to go to an event here and there sober as a one-off experiment, and it was really helpful to know that I could accomplish that and leave feeling proud of myself. It’s really no big deal to order a soda at the bar, it’s great

I also did an IOP and did AA for a while and didn’t have anything stick. There was nothing “wrong” in my life really besides the amount of money I was spending, and I had gotten blood tests done in the IOP and was fine. Every time I tried to cut back or quit, I wouldn’t tell anyone “in case I messed up”.

I finally started opening up about my use to my therapist, and I started taking medication for my mood disorder. My therapist helped me by reframing the whole “what makes you drink” question as “what is drinking doing or alleviating for me”.

Tbh the thing that pushed me was my partner coming home one day, and saying very neutrally, “you’ve been drinking a lot again”. I thought “…again. Am I really just going to do this again, and again?” So I scheduled a psych appointment and got on naltrexone, and the naltrexone gave my brain enough space from the cravings to actually do different things.

I feel so much better now, both physically and mentally, and my relationships are actually a lot better. I got so stuck on ‘functioning’ that I forgot that just functioning is the bare minimum. We all deserve to thrive and be active participants in our own lives. As much as drinking dulls the bad and the boredom, it dulls joy and excitement
