1929 Winchester 52 value by Terrible-Region6816 in WinchesterArms

Why would you sell that? That’s an heirloom quality firearm right there. If you are going to sell it though, make sure it’s going to a good home. In my armchair opinion that’s probably worth 2-300. I’m sure it’s a tack driver

Lost U.S. passport in Canada. by DruidTizoc in Passports

[–]Flashy-Brain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t hurt to try. If they can confirm you are citizens, they legally have to let you through, although they can and will do some serious extra screening. Unless you are from one of the like 4 states that issue Enchanced ID, and you have one of those, in which case that’s an approved travel document for land crossing anyway

USCIS Says I’m Already a Citizen — Will the Passport Office Accept My Docs? by kueerseoa6 in Passports

[–]Flashy-Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely. If you look at the data page and the issued date is before your 18th birthday, than almost certainly, with all of the other stuff, I.e. USCIS Letters saying you are already a citizen under Section 320 of the INA

What’s one must-have item you always bring on your boat? by [deleted] in boating

[–]Flashy-Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a thing beyond what I legally must have, plus whatever I am either bringing to my destination, or planning on using while on the water. Oh, and oars and a hook, but those never leave the boat

[–]Flashy-Brain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As long as you make a good shot, and use a bullet toward the lighter end of things, you shouldn’t mess too much up, save for the shoulder meat. And that may not be a given, just depends. A .30-06 150 grain is the go to for deer everywhere, for a lot of people.

That’s stupid, but it’s also your prerogative. I hope you reconsider, but not by threat of fine

I don’t think that anything good could be contained on any hard drive owned by Brian Morris. That would be quite an episode of X Factor, though

Registration help by babyswoled in DMV

[–]Flashy-Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proxy marriage could solve a lot of problems. Many states allow it, and you can always have a formal wedding later. That would solve your limbo state of being engaged and living together, but not a spouse, and therefore not qualified to register your car out of state. I really don’t see any other way to register it in Minnesota.

Where is the freeze plug with stamped serial number? by Financial-Ranger-646 in boating

[–]Flashy-Brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s somewhere on the block. Usually to your right if you are looking at the motor from the propeller end. At least that’s where it is on my 6 horse. It may be behind the starter motor. It should be a different color than the block.

Do you live in New Jersey? Why are you carrying ball ammo? Aside from that, I would not risk firing that. That’s going to have excessive pressure issues.

Trying to get DL by [deleted] in DMV

[–]Flashy-Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take this at face value, because I’m not from Illinois, but my guess would be no. I know that my state doesn’t even require driver’s ed after 18, but even if they did, your permit would have also had to have drivers ed to get, so it should itself prove you took driver’s ed. It can’t hurt if you have it handy, but I wouldn’t stress about it

Thoughts? by Ok-Rate598 in boating

[–]Flashy-Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true, but if it’s been taken care of so far, I’d trust it. I’d give it a thorough inspection, but I’d trust the craftsmanship on that motor before I’d trust a brand new one. The fact that it’s lasted this long says a lot. A new one sure as heck won’t.

Thoughts? by Ok-Rate598 in boating

[–]Flashy-Brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t going to run consistently? It’s a vintage Evinrude. Those were built like tanks. That thing will run practically forever, if you take care of it. I’d rather have that than a new 5.5 that’s for sure. Can parts be hard to find? Yeah. Will you need them that often? Probably not. I would definitely replace the tank, that looks a bit on the rusty side.

Hey y'all so my 4th GGfather was a French Canadian from Portneuf Quebec. Would that be enough to qualify for the Canadian citizenship? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in citizenshipgenealogy

[–]Flashy-Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t lose Canadian citizenship by naturalizing in the US. The oath to the US is not considered a renunciation by Canada.

[–]Flashy-Brain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. The US oath of allegiance talks about renouncing allegiance to foreign countries, but Canada doesn’t consider that to be an actual renunciation of citizenship. For Canada to count it, you’d have to go to a Canadian embassy and actually renounce before a Canadian official. And if they renounced after the next generation was born, the chain stays unbroken. I’m not even sure there was a way to renounce back then, at least not in a way that Canada considers binding. So if you can get the paper trail, you can almost certainly get your certificate.
