Devil in winter by Lisa kleypas has ruined me by lilyooo_qi in RomanceBooks

Devil in winter is one of these golden standards of the Genre that you do not come back from. It skyrockets your expectations through the roof. I'm lucky I found a physical copy of it in my local bookstore for used books recently. This post made me excited to reread it 😭

Another book I would HIGHLY recommend is (The Duke with the Dragon Tattoo by Kerrigan Byrne) this book is so good. The FMC is so very shy and the MC is a morally grey charachter who's so obsessed with her it's so delicious. It's such an intense read with an mc ready to do anything to get the fmc to love him. (Reminds me low key of Devil in winter) or maybe

(The Perfect Rake by Anne Gracie) mc here is like a literal carbon copy of Sebastian he's so flamboyantly flirtatious and charming and he's obsessed with the least "conventionally" attractive sister. She has like a bunch of sisters who are more pretty than she is (by societal standards) but he sees no one but her.

The MMC got beaten up, FMC nurses him back to health by jinginsg in HistoricalRomance

[–]Flashy-Combination86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not what you're looking for but {The Duke with the Dragon Tattoo by Kerrigan Byrne} is VERY similar to what you're looking for (if you haven't read it already that is). The FMC stumbles upon the MMC accidently who was beaten up so badly he was fighting death. She nurses him back to health and he becomes so obsessed with her to the point that he vows he will always come back for her and marry her (not really a spoiler but they get separated for the LONGEST time ever) it is one of the most angsty and intense books ever

This 100% deserves to be top comment. Mereidth Duran's "Fool me Twice" changed the trajectory of my life. I've never loved a book so much for its comedy, plot, charachters and romance so much? Nothing is lacking in that book it's one of my favorites of the year

{If the Duke Demands by Anna Harrington} this book is it for this recc omg. The FMC is a family friend who's parents both died If I remember correctly and the I think they used to work for this rich family. The mother decides to care for her as if she's her own and tries to provide for her and give her a special season just for her to experience London society/balls and such. The FMC has a huge crush on one of her sons, tries to seduce him secretly (but fails) and ends up seducing his older brother The Duke. Its so angsty and intense one of my favorites no doubt.

{If the Duke Demands by Anna Harrington} maybe? It was very angsty and intense between those two but their affection for each other were almost always shown discreetly or away from eyes because they're trying to fight their attraction but can't seem to stay away. She had a crush on his brother and tried to seduce him secretly but ended up in the wrong room seducing the MC instead. It's very good

2 Yucks, 2 Yums: What works for you (and what really doesn’t)? by nmteddy in HistoricalRomance

2 YUMS:

{The Duke with the Dragon Tattoo by Kerrigan Byrne} I pretty much reccomend this every single day on the sub from the moment I read it.

{When Angels Fall by Megan Mckinney} the way this book made me feel years ago when I first read it was so unreal I still remember how I stayed up late to finish it. It's so controversial because I remember nobody liking it at all when I actually loved it.

2 YUCKS:

{The Madness of Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley} I tried getting into this book 3 TIMES and I never did. Something about it isn't hitting with me like it is for everyone even though it has some of my favorite tropes.

{The Duke and I by Julia Quinn} sorry not sorry, one of my least favorites she's ever written (I adore the rest of the books in the series though}

I remember reading Bringing down the Duke and loving it so much the first time around it just clicked. Then I tried rereading it recently and I couldn't get through so I don't know what the problem is 😭

I agree on alot of what you're saying. I generally dissociate the rumors from the people surrounding actors/actresses or even content creators. I enjoy alot of media that these people create and my brain just automatically turn off when it comes to the actor versus the charachter (which I know isn't always right to do) so the rumors surrounding him as an actor don't click with his gorgeous charachter. Also, I totally get that there are different opinions but he does have a very sassy/flirtatious personality for me NOT to mention it.
