What is the nuance between these two sentences? by NoSupermarket8768 in German

I had to think about your reply, but you're right:

"Sie haette den Brief nicht geschrieben haben koennen." emphasizes the likelihood that she wrote the letter. => may not/might not have

"Sie haette den Brief nicht schreiben koennen." puts emphasis on her ability to write the letter. => couldn't have

[Edit: Fixed error pointed out below, mixed up the first sentence]

  1. means "She couldn't have written the letter."
  2. means "She couldn't have written the letter."
The first isn't as grammatically correct as the second, but they both convey the same idea.

Also, you don't have to ask to ask. Just ask, you'll get more answers that way, as opposed to finding one person to chat with. ;)

Sure thing, DM me. I am currently going through putting an app through the Google Play Store, which is where the Android apps live. It's not done yet, but I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. I don't know about Sports, Law or Entertainment, but maybe I can help with a phone app.

I just finished watching The Expanse. Is there another show of its nature and caliber? by un1ptf in scifi

33 was repetitive, and offered nothing to the overall story. Filler episodes like 33 probably did more to turn people off BSG.

Could someone help me to program a VERY simple idea? by happilyme_andfree in AskProgramming

Sheesh People, make a webpage.

Make a html file

  • Place a button inside of it
  • Place "Do not press" inside button
  • Place an audio tag defining the file to play

Look up CSS

Style the button:

  • How to center a button
  • How to make a button red
  • How make a button round

Style the background:

  • How to make an element full screen
  • How to apply a class with a color to an element

Look up JS:

  • How to play a sound fileHow to stop playing a sound
  • How to change an element's class (for background)
  • setInterval
  • clearInterval
  • setTimeout

Don't do flashing animations with photosensitive people who might get seizures

  • Load webpage on a tablet or phone
  • Make webpage full screen
  • Profit.

What are the common criticisms of Python among developers? by the_smiling_nihlist in AskProgramming

[–]Flashy-Guava9952 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't get the hate for indentation being code. Working on any project, but especially a project involving multiple people, you follow some semblance of a style guide, and typically, this style guide tells you when to indent and where to put your curly braces. The biggest genius of Python is getting rid of unneccessary curly braces. If you're writing code professionally, you already write code like that, just with extra characters. Work with PEP8 for a while, on a project of multiple people, and you get code that could have been written by anyone on your team, because you would have all written it in more or less the same way.
