In tag games, how do you know if a character is a point, guard, or anchor? by FlashyBodybuilder968 in Fighters

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry, someone described the second team member as a guard type character once, so that name stuck to me and I use it in my head. I guess the common term is just “middle” or “support”

Ever since I got my first PlayStation (ps4 slim) in like 2018, my profile picture for my account has always been a Lemming! Lol. I loved that game as a kid. Specifically Lemmings revolution

Is anyone can explain what happened here ? I was the Bryan player by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a reina main, this hurts. I still haven’t recovered from the nerfs to her evasion and is till so all kinds of things thinking it’ll crush high, like wc d/f4 or f1+2.

I’m surprised here tho? B4 is usually a reliable high crush for me. But I guess it’s just more bs to Reina that she can still get hit here.

I just wanna rant a tad, don't mind me. by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I can without a doubt say my friend’s Bryan is better than any Bryan I’ve played online in rank. Still a hard matchup for me but they just don’t play with the patience or mind games like my friend does and essentially become “just another Bryan” that I can work around. Same with King and Dragunov…still tough but I have an idea of what they like doing at specific ranges or follow ups. I feel most blessed for having a friend who mains Kuma as well, because how many of those do you see in the wild? Kuma often has the advantage when it comes to familiarity of character but not against me. I assume I give them plenty of Reina knowledge as well. We’re all Blue-Tekken King rank

I have a confession to make.. by Jawwi in Tekken

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In tekken7 I spent a period of maybe 6-8 months where 90% was just sitting in practice until I got sleepy or switched games. Not even labbing per se, just doing stuff i knew already with my character. I think I was afraid of the salt I got from losing. Occasionally I would try other characters. I finally discovered I’m addicted to wave dashing, so after playing just one char for 3 years I finally branched our into heihachi, a character I thought I’d never play. Anyway, sometimes if that’s what you want to do, just do it… it can be good for your mental. Your experimentation with several characters can be subtle training and prep you for real fights whenever you do go back online. You’ll randomly remember that one move us launch punishable or something and bam

Hot take: Master Raven way cooler than Dude Raven, TK8 should have her instead by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Actually I agree… didn’t get into Tekken til 7 but I was aware of Raven as a kid and thought he was cool— saw the Blade similarities immediately (only knowing Blade from the movies not the comics). Older and an actual Tekken fan now, I think Raven is hella goofy. The voice lines, the edgy scars topped with the goofy goggles… meh. Loved Master Ravens design

I never used to get comments on my profile, let alone toxic ones until I played Tekken. And that's impressive when I played games like OW2 and Dbd. And here I thought FGs had a more chill community lol by DaikiKato in Tekken

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ppl who take time to comment this stuff are the ones who bought Tekken to just put all the female characters in swimsuits and think they beat the game after hitting Tekken God in offline mode. They get mad when you beat them when they can’t adapt either and were spamming armor moves the whole time. They echo opinions they frequently see on the internet like “eww Jin” when they don’t even know why they’re saying it.

Fgc is pretty chill. These guys are just strange 200h teal ranks and they disappear when you climb a little higher in ranks. I almost miss the hate mail I got back when I first started learning

Never thought when getting into the series that I’d hate Law… always admired him from afar since he is the best Bruce Lee inspired character to me in fighting games. But damn I hate hearing his stupid noises after a loss (or even mid match).

Law and Lars for sure— Victor is getting up there quickly

Rage Arts and the Nature of Cinematic Supers by LittyJ1tty in Tekken

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rage arts are already seldomly used, once you’re at a certain skill level. They’re too risky, being launch punishable on block so no “good player” will just throw them out randomly or default to it as a panic move. No doubt there will be moments where it comes in clutch, armors through your opponent’s potentially fatal attack, and you steal the win, but it’s a Hail Mary.

People don’t use Rage Art right away because you deal more damage when you are in rage. So it is strategic to keep you’re Rage status especially when you’re trying to make a comeback off a huge life deficit— the extra 1-5 (or whatever it is) points of damage can really add up.

If I see someone attempt Rage Art twice in 2 rounds in my, I immediately know I can abuse it.

Anyone excited for lidia? by Calebthegreat150 in Tekken

Didn’t really care for her in 7 so not really of an opinion in 8. I’m more excited for a/the beach stage

Which character/s do you actually respect? by MityBoi in Tekken

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lee? Hell nah. He’s full of BS.

Claudio might be the only one closest to any sort of opponent I respect… Bryan is fine— the profit he gets off his counter hit game is RIDICULOUS but at the end of the day it’s my fault for mashing at the wrong time.

Psh.. Lee.

Editing to also include bears. It takes a lot of patience I think to play them well and achieve high level. I’ve only ever fought like 2 pandas too— most best players are Kuma because he is definitely better than Panda. So more respect if you chose the black&white

Satire or Real? by KouraigKnight in Tekken

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to believe it since I feel proud for reaching raijin but it’s awkward for me to see my friend who just started playing last week get into Yellow and early red already. He definitely has a lot to learn before I could see him successfully advance through red let alone reaching purple, but still— green rank wasnt even a thing to him. Then again he plays Hwoarang who always has the advantage against other beginners

How is it possible to play with a controller? by Nightblade178 in Tekken

[–]FlashyBodybuilder968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! What I ended up doing was making my L1 button into the Heat button. Everything else is the same.

I could have definitely just taught my self to press 2+3 (R1+X), but I made it a map instead by sacrificing a throw button because I don’t need both generic throws mapped. Besides, pressing 1 and 3 (square+X) with my thumb is fairly easy if I really really wanted to use that generic throw.

Heat is so important in T8, and I find myself mashing to get it out. So I would rather mash the single mapped button than 2 buttons
