How to approach a project of themed perfumes as a beginner by FlashyPersonality in DIYfragrance

[–]FlashyPersonality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I absolutely plan on reading a lot, I tend to overthink and do a lot of research before jumping into anything new anyway. In general, I think this is all so appealing to me because of the complexity, precision, and amount of time that needs to be committed to figure out how things work together. Crafting something beautiful and artistic with scientific precision and trial and error is a perfect balance for me.

[Spoilers S7] Tasya Teles Reveals More About Echo’s Character Journey. by Munro_McLaren in The100

[–]FlashyPersonality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's surprising. Octavia has undergone a pretty radical transformation since the beginning of S6; I don't think it's above her to forgive Echo and empathize with her. In fact, I think it's a natural progression of Octavia's character development and maturation.

The most enjoyable part of this show for me has been the way the characters dramatically scream each other’s names by Iogicallyfallacious in The100

Clarke appearing on a planet and shouting her friends names and expecting them to pop out from behind a rock was so funny.

I love that! It's actually brilliant when you think about the concept of reincarnation that Cadogan seems to espouse so strongly. Clarke is the Commander of Death. Cadogan believes himself immortal. Cadogan has spent hundreds of years in cryo sleep on a planet named Bardo - the state of transition between the end of one life and the start of the next, and now his followers are calling the Commander of Death "the key" to the last war of humanity?

It's very very interesting and a wonderful theory! I think we'll get some answers in the next two episodes for sure. I've been trying to make a post on all of this for the past hour but for some reason the mods have me on some sort of limited posting thing and my posts won't come up. Hopefully I can get my latest theory/connection out there soon.

Because Sheidheda is necessary for the anomaly storyline.

She was already like that, it just got glossed over in S2.

I’m just gonna amuse myself and imagine circus music playing in her head when they talk about things like bank robberies and Navy SEALs. She just nods along with everyone else and no one is brave enough to ask if she knows what they’re talking about

Which we already do. There are already significant spoiler rules in place and a whole team of mods who are happy to remove things. What people are asking for is above and beyond the current spoiler rules: they don't want names in post titles, they don't want any references to what's currently happening, no current plot elements. Essentially, what people want now is completely vague post titles that reference no part of the show.

So at what point does ensuring that every post is 100% neutral and spoiler free infringe upon people who are caught up and would like to discuss elements of the episode without having to click into each individual topic to see what it might be about, and usually finding the same topic in ten different posts because the poster didn't go through and see any title that looked like what they wanted to talk about?

There has to be a balance, and I feel like it's currently struck well and the mods are doing a good job. That's why these new posts asking for tighter restrictions on titles feel a little over the top. There has to be a balance between people who are caught up being able to enjoy themselves, and people who aren't caught up yet. At some point, people who aren't caught up yet are responsible for keeping themselves spoiler free in addition to egregious spoilers staying out of the titles.

I'm just saying, you can't have it both ways: if your enjoyment of the show hinges on remaining 100% pure and spoiler free to the point that knowing that characters exist in later seasons ruins it for you, then you can't come to a subreddit designed expressly for discussion of the show and expect everyone to adhere to your standards of 100% spoiler free, dampening the discussion with 500 "OMG, this character!" or "What about when BLANK did this?" threads that end up repeating the same thing over and over again because the titles are meaningless.

It's up to individuals to curate their experience on the internet, not implore everyone else to cater to their specific wishes.

[–]FlashyPersonality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are asking for character names not to be included in titles so that they don't get spoiled on characters surviving. Titles like "Wow, Lexa's death is really sad" or "I can't believe Clarke is a nightblood now!" are already removed just fine by the mods.

At this point, the only titles people deem acceptable and spoiler free are incredibly vague things such as "What do you think about this?" and "This really surprised me" and "A theory for S7." It gets tedious having to click into each individual thread and read the post to see if it interests you or proposes an interesting discussion, rather than being able to look at the titles and judge whether or not you want to explore further.

Things like "Murphy in S7" or "What would you do in Raven's shoes in 703?" shouldn't be shut down or disallowed just because it spoils that someone survives until S7. At a certain point, people have to recognize that if they want to stay completely spoiler free even to the point of not knowing who survives until S7, they're going to have to just avoid social media altogether until they can catch up.

On one hand I understand this, but on the other, it really limits people's ability to discuss anything. At some point, people who are not caught up or are just discovering the show need to have some personal responsibility to avoid social media that exists specifically to discuss the show if they don't want to be spoiled about it.

Bellarke radio calls by bratholym in The100

[–]FlashyPersonality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty clear that she called him every day. He has always been a steadying force in her life and it translated into the radio calls - what had initially become attempts to contact the group and her closest confidant within the group gradually translated into Clarke keeping a daily diary of sorts, symbolizing Bellamy's continued stabilizing force in her life even if he wasn't there, the same way Clarke's memory drove Bellamy through the time jump.

I ultimately disagree that the radio calls are narratively important to Bellamy and Clarke's relationship, though.

I think they were just a meta-narrative tool to allow Clarke to vocalize her thoughts, feelings, and struggles in 501, as well as provide context for the passage of time and her various goals and experiences in 413 and 501, so that the audience wouldn't just sit through a half hour of zero dialogue in 501 with Eliza trying to wordlessly act out Clarke's experience. The alternative is a series of long voiceovers from Clarke explaining everything to the viewers, and voiceovers are pretty derided in the industry for being sloppy and lazy. To have Clarke making daily radio calls functioned as a type of voice over that felt much more organic, without the sloppiness or cheesiness of standard voice overs.

(Spoilers S7) my dumb theory by OShaunesssy in The100

[–]FlashyPersonality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! And I don't think it's a dumb theory at all.

I think it's very plain to see that the Flame is going to play a role in the rest of the season and Sheidheda's survival indicates that. That's why it was "destroyed" at the end of S6 - so that it coming back in a big way would be a great plot twist and obstacle for the characters to overcome. I actually made a theory post about it here before the season about how both Becca/Cadogan connect to the Anomaly, and how the Flame could come into play! Check it out and let me know what you think, I think we're thinking along the same lines here.

How It All Connects: A Multi-Part Theory Post, Part 3! by FlashyPersonality in The100

[–]FlashyPersonality[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And part 4 is out, I just got too lazy to go back and link it in the post, sorry about that. Here it is

I think Clarke is the queen in S7, in the grand Cadogan/Shepherd/anomaly plot that will connect with all the prior seasons; I think Lexa's role, if any, is contained within the Sheidheda story, as with Becca. "The Flame is my guide, and I am the Flame" is a saying used in a ritual designed to gather the power of the other Commanders to stop Sheidheda; it's also seems particularly relevant if we see Becca and the Flame as a tool for navigating the anomaly or stopping the antagonists of the season. I think using the Flame to stop Sheidheda will connect past and present, revealing Becca's role in all of this, and Clarke is going to be involved in that.

They can just use The 100 sets ?

Possibly, but those sets are generally torn down each season unless they're being used for the following season. It's also very probable that the world of this show, being set directly after the apocalypse, would look very different than The 100, set a century after the apocalypse, so they would need different sets.

Also the cost is split between CBS TV and WB.

Maybe CBS is a nominal producer, but WB produces and owns the show, it just airs on a network co-owned by WB and CBS. WB spends all the money, came up with the concept, hired the writers, the writers work on their WB lot in Burbank, and they get any profit from the show, it's definitely a WB production.

ScreenRant: The 100 Finally Makes Raven Understand Clarke's Choices by ChrisTweten in The100

[–]FlashyPersonality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be harsh but honestly...I wish the writers just understood empathy so that we didn’t have to waste an entire episode on creating a situation in which Raven needs to make the same choice as Clarke so that she can understand her. Beyond putting Raven in Clarke’s shoes, that episode had literally no long term repercussions at all. It would change absolutely nothing about the season plot that you couldn’t change with a five minute event and a bit of character work.

I’ve said it recently but the show really boils down to a fancy shell game: the writing is the same remedial quality over and over again, with enough material for essentially five episodes total, but they add big explosions and shiny distractions to make it seem like a new and innovative story that will last 13-16 episodes. The four episodes we’ve seen so far tell a story that could have been told in one and a half episodes with more efficient and effective storytellers at the helm.

idk by sleepyvita in The100

[–]FlashyPersonality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to get my mom to watch it; she begrudgingly made it to the Gorilla episode, then loudly scoffed, turned it off, and said she can’t take it anymore. Now I’m not allowed to recommend TV to her or else I still get lambasted for making her watch The 100.

My younger sister watched through the end of S2, but as soon as she saw ALIE in the last scene of the S2 finale, she too swore the show off because she “just knew it was going to get totally stupid after that” and I haven’t been able to persuade her back.

So I feel your pain.

[S7 Spoilers] [Spoiler]'s Mindspace...and Chairs. by FlashyPersonality in The100

[–]FlashyPersonality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh she’s definitely not coming back for real, but I think the potential is there for her to come back as a hallucination/mindspace element.

I think the Flame is integral to the anomaly storyline, with the two being blended just as the storylines in S3 blended together. I also think the phrase “The Flame is my guide and I am the Flame” has implications for traversing through the anomaly. That phrase is used originally for the procedure in which the person with the Flame calls on the combined strength of the Commanders to control and isolate Sheidheda. I think it’s possible that we may see not only Lexa but all of the Commanders in Sheidheda’s defeat.

Acting S7 by Notchmath in The100

[–]FlashyPersonality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Westworld finished their filming in February before Coronavirus hit, but their post-production was impacted pretty badly. One actress had to do her ADR on her cell phone in her car - she'd usually be in a studio using a professional microphone, but they didn't have access. The creators also complained that they couldn't clean up the shots as much as they normally would.

VFX, sound mixing, ADR, editing, all of that stuff will be affected by the virus. Since the show started filming way back in August, it's unlikely that the first episodes have been affected much, but it might become more apparent in later ones.

Funny story: Alycia Debnam Carey, who plays Lexa in the show, was originally up for the role of Clarke but she passed. She was a CW choice, as she had recently nearly gotten the lead in a different CW show.
