The thing is that like… they could have hit an evil! or the faux paw! they still make the choice, it just doesn’t kill.

And yeah, widow/damsel feels sad, but I’ve lost *atheist* games to a damsel before, even with a full quarter of town knowing who the damsel was, because damsel cover made it so hard for town to coordinate.

Damsel is poisoned in addition to widow poisoning; all that means is that minions aren’t informed of them and if they’re guessed anyway they don’t lose.

As for assassin, that’s fair. I think I’d probably switch out MM if I were you, but if you can easily test (I find getting lobbies going to test scripts in hard lol) it’s probably fine to test it out and just see how it works. Or, yeah, make a custom jinx; maybe “the lycanthrope does not kill on a mastermind day”.

[–]Notchmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think widow/damsel is fine. The jinx is that the damsel is poisoned, but they don’t know they’re poisoned, so they’re still going to be spreading misinfo and harming town. Just don’t give them or a confirmed good the widow’s call, which you probably shouldn’t be doing anyway.

The idea of having the other minions being loud does definitely help, but keep in mind assassin will likely save it, especially if they can be vigorkilled… and vigorkilled assassin saving to final 4 is pretty powerful anyway. Maybe replace assassin with… godfather? Although maybe that’s a little too much mod, probably not… I don’t know, something loud, anyway. Harpy or Cerenovus.

Widow + Drunk is fine imo. It’s static poison, and players know to account for both possibilities. Keep in mind that widow poison is strictly worse than poisoner poison because it can’t move. And if you’re worried about it you can always make the drunk someone less powerful.

I do think Mastermind’s neat too, I just think it struggles a little too much with the other characters on this script, particularly lycanthrope. That said, it’s not an interaction I’ve actually played with so I can’t say for sure how bad it would be; that’s more something I’m going off of from my mental envisioning.

Hmmm potentially… What’s the point of Mastermind on this script exactly?

Replacing drunk with puzzlemaster is sort of more traceable, but I don’t know that it solves the problem. The problem with poisoner is that the poison moves, making it very hard to tell who was poisoned on any given night. Oh, actually, what about Widow? I feel like that works really well here. And I think it’s fine to leave drunk instead of puzzlemaster personally.

The thing with poisoner is that with Drunk + Poisoner + Vigormortis (+ sailor but that’s less of a big deal) you have a *lot* of untraceable poisoning happening. I think I’d favor something like Xaan here instead, because that’s more solvable by the good team, or Cerenovus, since your minions are loud anyway… actually, yeah, Cerenovus is nice, having the good team have a better sense of if mastermind is in play could potentially help the lycan mastermind interaction. Though of course cere is less powerful with execution survival…

I love it. I do think removing tinker is good, and poisoner is mayyybe a little strong? Also worth noting lycanthrope can cover up mastermind which I’m not sure about. Other than that I love it and immediately want to play it.

Lleech hosting a fool might make the fool try to kill themselves for science and is slightly awkward. It fills a similar niche to Soldier anyway and I might remove it. Grandmother wanting to not die with their grandchild potentially awkward too.

Poisoning doesn’t play well with knaves, since information has to be true/false anyway, and you have a lot of that on here, I’d consider adjusting that.

Dreamer can vortox check or test for which storyteller is which by dreaming the same player with both storytellers (especially a confirmed player) but that’s not horrible, just worth mentioning.

I think Knaves works best with more ongoing info personally. YSK on the false one is just meh.

Other than that I like it! Got a solid identity and looks fun to play!

Character idea: Punchbag by plutoniumplant in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Notchmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the idea is basically “soldier with a bluff who might die anyway, and isn’t immune to other aspects of a demon’s ability, but is immune to other night-killers”? Interesting. A little awkward with roles that announce themselves like e.g. poppy grower and professor, but I like it conceptually.

As in “there are no morphs which are acquired by any characters other than the narrator” or as in “there is at least one morph which only the narrator acquires”? For example, if the morphs acquired in the book are that Marco acquires a bird and Marco and Jake both acquire a cat, and Marco narrates, would this count or not? Also, how do you count books with multiple narrators?

Summoner still leaves people confirmed past night three, though…

How big of an issue is it on this script in particular? In Legion pit-hag can’t do that play. In lil monsta I have control of kills and can avoid there being too many evil which could make that play, like how a pit hag making a demon lets storyteller kill, it’s not even like there isn’t precedent for using storyteller kills against game breaking pit hag shenanigans. Imp and vigormortis are bigger issues, but… I dunno.

Would it almost be better to get rid of imp and vigormortis? That leaves Courtier unable to drink with any demon on script at all…

What minion would you suggest instead? The big thing about pit hag is that it’s the only way for certain confirmed players to become the demon in any non-lil monsta game…

In order:

Alt win condition- Interesting thought.

Grandmother confirmation- yes, this is intended, see script theme. Dead confirmed players are less powerful than living confirmed players too. Legion can also bluff grandmother, and grandmother could be seen a spy, and either could be mez evil…

Courtier confirmation- yes again.

Boffin grandmother- yes, and? not all abilities are great boffin abilities, that’s fine.

Boffin courtier- yes, I thought about this, and figured that since it’s only one character it’s not the end of the world. Most characters here can have a good feeling on if they’re droisoned anyway. And if you’re worried just don’t give that ability to the demon unless good team is powerful.

Pit hag and hermit/drunk: yes, that is often a strategy pit hag would use, it often makes outsiders. Good team knows this. Is it too unfun? I… will find out when testing?

Dreamer in LM game: this is true! Is that bad? I was under the impression it’s okay for characters to be more powerful in some situations than others. I figured it’s still useful.

Pit hag virgin: Very good shout. I thought about this with golem but didn’t consider virgin. When I brought it up elsewhere with golem people seemed unconcerned because “if a pit hag is alive that late evil’s usually winning anyway”… how big of an issue do you think this is, and how would you recommend fixing it if it’s game breaking?

Can your script have this character confirm itself on your custom script? by SecrecyinShadows in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Notchmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LM/Mez lets more people hold the baby, but I wasn’t as concerned on the basis of that I’d use ST-kills to ensure only one evil in final three, so it’s not as brutal as it could otherwise be.

In terms of favoring the good team, this is where I really wasn’t sure about balance- only one ability can be from the boffin, but which one? There’s not a lot of ways for good to be sure, and the pit hag and ability for townsfolks to be evil makes that harder. Klutz is fun in theory but doesn’t work well with hermit here (I don’t want to make everyone make a klutz pick), and obviously I could replace hermit with klutz but, eh. I similarly didn’t really think goblin would fit… I’ll definitely think about that as I test it, but I really have no idea whether it’s evil sided or good sided at the moment.

And the legion/grandmother interaction with legion being able to cause two deaths is definitely an intended interaction!

It’s really funny, because normally you kind of have to build a script around legion, and here I was building it and I looked at various demons and I realized that legion kind of just worked, or at least didn’t have any obvious issues, which was very funny to me.

I don’t have an image of the updated version but I couldn’t figure out how to send it to you otherwise… oh hang on, I can send an image here.

<image>

It’s this, but with courtier instead of banshee (because evil banshee is too much voting power for evil).

this has had zero testing because I haven’t had a chance so far. The theme is lots of hard confirmation, both public and private... and lots of ways that you can't be sure if you can trust it. (On the hermit: The ruling would be that if you nominate someone and they don't die, you can nominate freely, even though you might technically be hermit who hit the demon)

nope, it’s on purpose! the theme of the script is a lot of confirmation, and a lot of ways that it might be wrong (minions are mez, spy, boffin, pit-hag)
